Travel Technology - Best Phone Card To Call From South Africa To US?

Travelling to SA and Botswana in a few weeks. A cell phone is provided to us though the rates are a bit high ($2.50/min to US). Any advice or suggestion for a calling card to use with the cell phone? Thanks in advance.

You might look at the MCI prepaid card that Costco sells. I just checked MCI's web site and they do have a South Africa access number, though I don't know what the per minute rate is. I know from Germany to the U.S. it's 15 cents a minute, so hopefully something in that range.

There are so many calling cards out there... Just ask the guy at the store which one is good for the $.....

about .30 cpm is the lowest, didn't search too hard though.

How is your cell phone being provided? Do you have any choice in the matter? Vodacom at the airports rents SIM cards and cell phones for very reasonable rates. I just came back from SA... I believe calls to the US were a little over $1/min without having to use any calling cards - internal calls were dirt cheap.
