Hertz - Early Qualification for President's Circle

I recently called Hertz CS to inquire how many rentals I'd done since January 1, and it turns out it was more than 40. I then asked if I could be bumped up from 5* to President's Circle, and the answer was "yes," but they made it sound like they were doing me a huge favor to give me status now and not make me wait until January 1, 2005 to start. Did I really get any special treatment or is this done all the time?

I've done it twice myself over the years when I hit enough rentals for 5 star, neither time did they make a big deal of it. There have been threads here where others have mentioned doing the same, and I don't ever recall anyone saying they were told it was special treatment.

The larger question is why the can't just do periodic automatic sweeps to find newly qualified members. Every airline and hotel program I have ever reached any kind of status level with does this.

Official Hertz policy is that elite status qualification does not take effect until the following calendar year, but they always make it effective immediately when asked.

According to a new policy from Hertz (as I was told from station manager in Atlanta) this will not be the case unless you specifically rent the G35. The manager told me that the G35 is now in a classification all to itself. :td:

Do you know what class they are putting the G35s in?

They were Specialty Premiums (YG). I imagine they will move to Prestige Collection.

I was not told exactly what category the G35 would be placed in specifically. However, I would bet that Tigger is correct. He usually is. ^

Is the only way to know how many qualifiying rentals you have to call them (or go back thru my expense reports?) Does it show anyplace on the website?

You can try and look through your past receipts on-line, but I believe it only goes back six months. Hertz does not have a "counter" online that shows you your current rentals and days.

I guess you've had bad experiences as President's Circle? I find that I have much much more leeway as a HiVol and usually get what I want when I ask for it (most but not all locations I rent from, which is 40 different airports per year). Cars are usually a few steps away, a Free Day coupon every 7 rentals, etc. When the location is almost dried up, guess who gets the Jags? ^
