Newsstand - Ontario airport terminal evacuated because of suspicious bag
ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) - A bomb scare prompted the evacuation of 1,000 people from Ontario International Airport for two hours Friday during the busy Labor Day weekend getaway, but the suspicious bag that caused it turned out to contain only cosmetics, officials said.
A dozen inbound planes were delayed and arriving passengers were not allowed to deplane from several others after an explosives scanner detected something suspicious in the backpack of a woman who was heading to a Southwest flight, airport spokeswoman Maria Fermin said.

At least there was a credible indication of a threat (bomb dog alarmed) as a trigger.
However, holding arriving pax hostage on aircraft on the ground (for more than an hour) continues to be an abomination. Learn to deploy and use stairs if the terminal is unavailable.

Dumping a thousand people out on the curb is nothing more than insane.
Makes them prime targets for a car-bomb or a drive-by shooting.
And all one has to do to trigger this is phone up Mary Kay?
I'm glad they did this. Can't ever be too safe.
Better safe than sorry.
Think of the children.

I guess no airport is immune from these evacuations. I was just thinking of making plans out of the airports other than LAX, but it doesn't seem to matter much now. Still, the sheer quantity of the LAX population makes it more bothersome when there is an evacuation, I suppose....
FWAAA - very funny!! lol
How many children do you suppose are stuck in those planes unable to deplane for hours? :-)
Kids are a prime target for using batteries too.
