I am flying OZ from ICN to NRT in C.
The flights are code share OZ/NH
As both carriers are *A, both would count as PP.
As it is not an ANA group flight there is no bonus miles for NH status
There is thus no incentive to book NH over OZ on this flight ?
Am I right ?

YES
You should receive 125% Actual Mileage as NH PP points for booking OZ FLT# or NH FLT #. That is all because it is OZ metal. (And that is 125% Class of service multiplier, not Diamond multiplier.)

My question then is why would anybody book under NH ? Any hidden advantages ?
I am always under the impression that if anything went wrong with the flight, delays etc I would be better looked after by the carrier flying also in this case it is their home base.

My 2 yens worth: You would be looked after in Japan because you are Diamond status with NH. I'm sure NH would go to great length to make sure you are taken care of. What would happen to you in ICN might be a different thing. You would probably see OZ take care of their high status pax first , then C class pax then other *gold in that order. I am sure you would be accomodated. In the worst case I would get in touch with NH supervisor in ICN to get the ball rolling on your behalf should anything arise.

One thing to remember is that you are only * G in their eyes as they don't have any higher status marker in their systems.

In your case buying C fares, I don't think there are any hidden advantages for codeshare as schoflyer pointed out, except that I think that NH will go to great lengths to accomodate you(diamond) here in Japan. I would just buy the cheapest C fare between NH/UA and OZ as you don't make any extra points.

That's me though :) !

Thanks for you 2 cents
I only take OZ because of the 'bad' timing of the ICN-NRT ANA aircraft (no morning departure)
My choice was UA or OZ or UA again
As you might guess I opted for OZ without hesitation.
I then had the choice of booking that OZ flight on the OZ flight number or on the NH code share flight number and I wandered if there would be any advantages/disdvantages knowing my Diamond status with NH
Thanks for your input.

JackR which would give you the cheaper fare, buy the NH codeshare on OZ/UA metal or buying the straight OZ /UA/NH fare? I have found that when flying to Canada on the AC/NH codeshare that NH often has the cheaper fare but if I were to buy it I couldn't use my UG certs :( even though it's AC metal.

Also what is sked to ICN from NRT or Gimpo Haneda? Do they alternate throughout the day?

ANA has only one aircraft from NRT doing NRT-ICN-KIX-ICN-NRT
They also have a HND-Gimpo-NRT run around lunchtime with an old 767 (2-2-2 in C and no lounge facilitty at either end as it is classified as a charter flight but with C catering in C)
OZ has 4 or 5 return trips between NRT/ICN and also 1 between HND-Gimpo
UA has 2 round trips both NRT-ICN leave in the evening and return the next morning in time for their USA connections.
The cost os no issue as I have an open C full fare return portion ICN-NRT
