Travel Technology - ATTN all T-mobile GPRS users...

There seems to be an add-on at the moment that lets you add GRPS AND T-mobile hotspot for the same price as the GPRS on it's own.

Some users at Howardsforums are reporting success in adding on this plan.

GPRS is normally 19,95, and so is Hotspots (on a voice plan), so this is a 19,95 saving!

I am a T-Mobile voice plan subscriber with t-zone (Internet and email access from your cell phone) and Hotspot (Wi-Fi roaming) add-ons but I've never heard of the GPRS plan. What is it and for?

T-zones is the name of their WAP Service, the "real" GPRS service offers internet access without any limitations, normally costs 19,95/month

Turns out the sweet deal was a mistake and has been removed. No such generous offer after all. But I do appreciate ScottC's post becauseI didn't even know about "T-Mobile Internet" (aka T-Mobile GPRS).

I have T-Mobile GPRS for USD 2.95 a month. I thought that was the normal price, but it turns out I am grandfathered in for some early plan (when it was first starting) and have that price until I switch service. Didn't realize I was getting such a deal (and the service isn't that great). I also have some huge number of SMS included (something like 500 per month, including international SMS); didn't know that I had that, either -- now that is useful. T-Mobile must have thousands of different plans grandfathered in.

I stumbled upon this while goign to add Hotspot service for a trip to the UK. I'm over here now, 3 days later. It appears to still be active on my account. I wonder if they are honoring this package for those who added it?

Be sure to make screenshots of the deal, and print out all your services, you never know if/when they will try and screw you...

Not sure which part you were so excited about. Was it the t-zones for $4.99? TM internet and HS for $19.99? I have t-mobile but don't use the internet. As far as I know, The WorldClass International Service is always free, which means that you can use the phone in a bunch of different countries. However, that doesn't mean they won't charge you more per minute for using the phone in those countries. I believe it is $0.99/minute in England.

The list was a convenient cut/paste. The entire point is that I added hotspot service, which is $19.99, and was able to get both hotspot and gprs for $19.99. I'm aware that World Class service is free, and the fee per minute to use it ;)

He's getting full VPN Internet access AND hotspot for 19.99 instead of 39.98.

THAT is what is "exciting". And I'm sure we are all very well aware of the fee's for roaming ;)

I'm glad this thread was here, because for some reason it never registered that I could add Hotspot for such a comparatively small fee (20 bucks/month). Will make a certain extra user on my T-Mobile account (2nd phone) pretty happy, I think. :-)

Is there any reason we couldn't both use the Hotspot login? Maybe not simultaneously, I suppose, but in some cases my laptop and in some cases hers should be okay, right? I can't see how it would be tied to a certain phone at all. GPRS, on the other hand, I suspect is tied to each phone right? That one is appealing in its own way I suppose, but the slow speed is off-putting when there are an awful lot of Hotspots around. If it gives me both for 20 bucks, I guess I won't complain. :D

Argh. Well, I don't have the double deal, which is fine, but when I submitted the add for Hotspot, it came back with now having zero add ons! Well, I have an old t-zones add on that only costs $2.99. That seemed to be gone when I got it to work the second time. (I added the gadget that was in the same place as the t-zones previously, but it's not quite the same, says picture/video messaging for $2.99.) Guess I'm going to have to call them to fix that. :mad:

I missed adding this. I saw it on HoFo and when I went to the TMobile web page found that all the plan description pages were down. They caught it pretty quick. It apparently came about as they added the new Ipaq and associated plans to their pages. Since that has GPRS and WiFii they added a dual plan for 19.99 on top of the voice plan. They have changed that too, they still have those plans but they are $40 above the voice cost. It will be interesting to see if they honor them or not for the people who got in quick.
