Starwood Preferred Guest - Award (un)availability?

So I'm taking the family up to Niagara Falls for Labor Day. Staying at the Sheraton on the Falls. Called yesterday and made a paid reservation for self and an award reservation for a specialty room for family. Today decided that they'd be more comfortable in 2 rooms. So I called back to get another room. The person on the phone promptly tells me there's no award rooms, but he'll be happy to book a paid room for me.

While he's doing that, I go on-line and check. Sure enough, it comes up with an award room available. He still tells me there are none, and suggests I book it on-line. I do that. He looks up the reservation and says everything looks fine. I ask him to put a note in asking for a single bed non-smoking.

Now I get the confirmation e-mail from SPG for this latest award room. Here's what scares me just a bit:

Award Confirmed Rate: -1 Starpoints
Rate Plan: SPG AWARD/Category 3

at the bottom it has my SPG number and shows that I'm Gold, and then:

Beginning Starpoints: -1
Starpoints Used for Award: -1
Adjusted Starpoints: -1


What the heck??? :confused: Is my reservation in danger?? :eek:

Nah, you're fine. Stayed at the W Union Square on a last-second award on Monday night (found out at 9 a.m. that I was getting floors done that day, was in a room at the W by noon).

The confirmation email said exactly the same thing taht yours said. Go to spg.com and check your account. It should show the correct info.

You're just fine. I see this sometimes, too. Just log in and click on the little red words to the right that say something like "to see detail, click here" -- that will take you to the rooms detail page and you can print it out to feel safer. nothing's wrong here at all

I appreciate the encouragement. However, I would hardly agree that nothing's wrong here. :)

Seems to be yet another in a serious of bugs with the SPG web site. C'mon Starwood, get it in gear!

I like the Sheraton on the Falls.
