Hi
IM heading to SIN soon, and was wondering are electronics still cheap there?been looking some prices from hardwarezone, but thought mayby someone with recent experiences could shed light better? Im mainly looking price differences with laptops and digicams to UK prices...?
cheers
JB
I was there a couple weeks ago and hit many of the shops in Bugis, looking at laptops, mobiles, and MP3 players. Didn't wind up buying anything because it all seemed about the same price as the US, maybe a tiny bit cheaper than Europe. Not enough to make the transport and hassle worth it.

Sim Lim Square is a fairly large (~ 5 floors) mall with hundreds of electronics shops.
There is also the Funan IT Mall (http://www.funan.com.sg/flash/index.html) which also has hundreds of shops.
It seems that most people agree that prices on most/all electtronics items in Singapore are equal to or slightly more than, prices in the U.S.A.
I used to buy Gold Peak rechargeable NiMH batteries in Singapore, but these are now widely available in the U.S.A., and cheaper! Also I did buy a used GSM phone at Taj Electronics, a small shop at the Peninsula Hotel Shopping Center.
