PC 924932 is associated with the Business Account Program -- I suspect it should work on any CDP (it's available on the Hertz page)
I don't remember where 955091 comes from -- probably a gold e-mail?
"It's some internet coupon code" has always worked when agents have had questions about a PC (with the exception of Double Take.)

Excellent! The 924932 promo clearly states it is good on leisure weekly and leisure weekend rentals, in addition to Business Account Code rentals. AAA rates, which I have found to be the best, are leisure rates and work with this promo. Cut prices almost in half for a December rental I have.

924932 appeared to knock off some of the extra daily-based charges/fees for the discount day, whereas the $20 off didn't. At least, that's what I think happened -- it's difficult to figure out the exact charges.
Anyway, if your rental is close to $18-$20/day, it might still be better to use the free day instead of $20 off. You'll have to check on your final bill and see.

In the T&C for the free day, it says "Minimum of 2 paid days required on weekend rentals". However, I just booked two 2-day rentals, with the coupon appplied, and my total charges appear to be computed based on 1 paid and 1 free day. Will I have a problem with this once I go to pick up or is the reservation sufficient to guarantee me the price?

Did you book 2-day weekend or weekday rentals? Maybe that's the difference.
I just used it on a 3-day weekend and just told them my total should be around $X when I went to turn the car in, and she noted that she needed to put in the PC for it to credit properly. If the website confirmed it, then you should probably have no problems using it.

How does the free day PC# affect the earning of points? If, for example, I get 50 points per day, would a four day rental only count as three and thus earn me 150 points instead of the full 200?

I think you'll get the full credit since it's treated as a discount -- aFAIK the rental is still in the system as 4 days.
(That said, even if it isn't, the $ saved is far more valuable than the points you'd be forgoing if you only got credit for the 3 day rental.)

Thanks for posting 924932. Used it at my gestapo-run local edition, who questioned it (they question everything there), and they couldn't believe it was for a full day off.
They actually called Hertz reservations (not even the gold line or internal support or anything) to verify the coupon code, which was of course indeed valid. The dude reluctantly took it off at the return, as if I was pulling money right out of his wallet.
Got two days of a full-size for $23 ($25 all in), and put 320 miles on it. ^

Thank you for these codes! I have used them each weekend and my 2 day rentals have averaged $30 after taxes.
This week my mother needed to rent a car as my daughter totaled her car :( , and when I went to the website and tried to rent a car for her, using the codes, I got a rate of over $200 before taxes for a week. When I logged on as myself, using the same codes, I got a rate of 118.99. I called Hertz and asked them if I could rent it for her and they said that I would have to be there with her so that we could register her as the driver. I am in San Francisco and she is in Las Vegas. Isn't it odd that the rates are so different? I guess that must be one benefit of being Presidents Circle???
Anyhow, we eventually decided that she will wait until I get home tonight to rent the car so that she can save the $100. Her insurance pays a flat rate of $20 per day, so this will be really close to what she is reimbursed.

The CDP only works on weekend and weekly rates. I'd bet you are returning the car on a Tuesday or similar date to no longer qualify for the weekend rate...

camachinist,
I made a couple of reservations this morning without using either of the coupons mentioned above and got the same message. The "Review Rental Qualifications and Requirements" on your confirmation page is actually a link that has a drop down menu of Hertz' policies on about twenty different subjects --- minimum rental age, method of payment, refueling options to name a few. It seems like I remember seeing this on previous reservations but never paid it any attention. Some interesting info in there -- thanks for bringing it up!!

My apologies for not including the rental days. Pickup is Friday (actually this Friday) and return is Sunday, both at the same time of day, per my usual arrangement. I had not seen this warning message (in particular the one about the extra day charges) before so figured it was worth asking about :)

I would reread the coupon page. It's a free day off a weekly or weekend rates.
So, if you pick up and return outside of the weekend time period, then it requires a 5 day minimum, otherwise for the weekend it only requires 2 days.

I had a funny experience returning a car using 924932 last weekend. I of course included the coupon code on my original reservation and made sure it was on the rental agreement after I picked up the car, so when I returned it (returned inside the building actually, no outside service at the time) I didn't bother saying anything, since you usually don't have to in this case, so when the guy told me the total, I said "I think you missed my one day free" and he cops just a little attitude "You should have told me that earlier" and I said usually I don't have to and we had a non-heated exchange until he was looking for the code and I read it to him ... then his attitude changed when he realized he had screwed up the return and the code was in there and he was really apologetic about it.
Of course, if I had been a dick about it and copped an attitude about it from the start, it could have turned into a mess and I'd be here asking what compensation I deserve on my cheap weekend rental.

I changed the reservation I noted in my above post to the usual gold $-off PC and the warning message changed to "EXTRA DAY CHARGE AFTER MONDAY".
After perusing the verbage on the actual coupon page, I see where I went wrong. The coupon requires "two paid days" of rental on the weekend rate to qualify for the free day, which to me means a total minimum 3 day keep. I'm guessing some folks have been able to bend this rule ;)
Thanks for all the help. I did apply the coupon to an upcoming weekly rental in Hawaii.

That's good information but try not to say it too loudly or the precise verbage from the promotion code may be enforced. To me, paid rental days means one must pay for them, yes?

I just made a reservation using PC 924932 and CDP 240 for Atlanta Hartsfield (Midsize car) from 10/2 (arriving 10am) - 10/5 (returning 4pm).
The rate came back at 2 days @ 23.35 and 2 days @ 35.03.
The total Approximate Rental Charge is $116.24
Does this include the free rental day?
Do I have to show them the printout of the hertz special coupon for this free day?
Can somebody explain what is the process to get the best rate and what I need to show?
Finally, will I have problems booking using the above codes if I am new and don't have backup showing how I got the codes.
Thanks in advance.

Anthony, you should be able to do the math here.
23.35 x 2 days = 46.70
35.03 x 2 days = 70.06
TOTAL = $116.76
On top of that total, you are likely to have airport surcharges and taxes so I'd say yes, the coupon has been applied.
The only thing you'll want to have is a printout of the confirmation e-mail showing the approximate total. It should automatically be applied though I discovered when returning a car at Dulles last weekend that it didn't happen -- the guy said "$49?" and I said "No, $29" and showed him my e-mail confirmation. That was all that I needed to do.
atwnsw2
Sep 23, 04, 6:40 pm
I understand your point about the math. I agree the total for 4 days equals $116 + taxes & surcharges.
My questions are:
The first post in this thread states "PC 924932 - free day on minimum 2 day rental.
So, the Hertz rate is showing a bill for 4 days. The promotion code "924932" states that I should receive 1 free day.
So, actual charges be for 3 days?
I understand about showing them the receipt but am VERY confused as to what I should expect to pay for this reservation:
Option A) $116 + misc charges [end of story]
Option B) $116 + misc charges less one day rental [so maybe $90 + charges]
Option C) ??????
Thanks for walking me through this. I know that I am being thick headed.

I think you're getting confused here because the base rate that noah calculated - $116.76 is so close to the approximate rental charge - $116.24 (base rate + taxes/fees = approximate rental charge) on your reservation. It just so happens in your case that the value of your free day rental coupon is less than a one dollar difference than the taxes/fees that is tacked on to your base rate.
An easy way to prove this to yourself would be the check the rate of your reservation without using your PC. Your approximate rental charge will probably end up $140+.
Hope this helps

Was booking a 5-day (Fri-Tues) compact rental for SAN and used the CDP 5 (CSAA). Came to about $100 w/taxes and fees, which isn't bad. Interestingly, every PC I tried to add to the CDP made the rate go up. For example, the free day PC (924932) forced the system to book a weekly rental and then discounted it by one-day's rate. In this case there was no particular price break on the weekly rate, so it would have been like paying for 6 days instead of 5.

Hello Olivetti -
I got a fantastic rate from Holiday --- I think it was 140 euro for the week; as I was getting excited to confirm the reservation and submit my credit card info, they would not let me as I am a USA resident (similar to another thread on here). Seems that any US or Canadian residents are not entitled to the cheaper rates that I could procure for a guaranteed automatic car -- sounds like the same car I was getting from Hertz too (4-DR compact automatic) -- but about 200 euro more. Hertz cant help too much -- I have given them a variety of CDP's and pleas, but the best I could get was the 30% which ultimately results in the 300 euro rate.
I just wanted to add here --- Ive been renting cars in Europe for the past 5 years or so, and I cant drive a manual transmission. Ive tried researching a variety of car driving schools in LA and SFO and I cant find any -- the ones that I found willing only said if I would provide the manual tran car. If anyone knows of any schools in the LA area, please let me know -- this has always been a scorn to pay such premiums for automatic tran. cars.

For cars in Europe, you could try Auto Europe. They have similar broking arrangements and have a dedicated US website (I guess the rates could be higher but it's worth a go). Note that they can also place you with smaller local agencies (small chains, not single outlets), but I believe Holiday Autos do this occasionally as well.

Does anyone know of any current PC's applicable for rentals in Turks & Caicos?

For EU rentals, enter EoW in the RQ field, for others WOW. These give good week/weekend discounts. In germany, enter IND for the internet day/weekend offers. These give good rates similiar when compared to my corporate and FQTV CDPs. The RQ BEST also yields a 10% discount if your CDP doesn't give you discounts.
PC codes do not work on the internet if you want to rent in europe using the local european sites.

Check out the other threads about Florida's rental car situation right now. Another poster was unable to find any reasonable rates on Hertz cars, but was able to find a code that worked well for National (I think). Low $200's for a week...

Thanks for the codes. I used CDP 1434515 in conjunction with PC 924932 and got an even cheaper weekly rate for a compact out of PHL - $148 with tax. That CDP gives a 16% discount according to my reservation. Yay!

If you don't mind going through the trouble to breake your rental to two parts, it would be cheaper if you rent on Wed for 1 day, return the car at Thur noon then rent for another two days(with pc 924932).

Just a quick reminder to check the Special Offers section for #1 Gold customers after you've logged in. I usually use my work CDP, the AAA CDP, or the Amex Plat CDP for rentals - I've got a 2-day rental in TYS in February & tried pricing out a midsize. It turns out that using the airline CDP associated to the 350 miles & $5.00/off per weekend day (Link Here (http://www.hertz.com/special_07/milespointsavings04.jsp?ex=3)) gave me a the best discount for my rental. On the cheaper rentals, the 10-15% off that other CDP's provide sometimes isn't as good as the 5.00 off/day coupons that the airline CDP's provide.

I've never seen a PC that you could use for a one day rental (with the exception of the customer satisfaction certs), bhatnasx. That's why I only burn ZE1 points on the 500 point free rental day certificates. These come in handy for those one day rentals during the week -- usually making them worth $60-$80 a piece on a full-size.

AAA has some one-day coupons available. Follow this link to their booking engine (http://ww2.aaa.com/scripts/WebObjects.dll/AAAOnline?association=aaa&club=212&page=CarCriteria&recache=Y) & click on the link (scroll down a bit on the left side of the page) that shows a picture of a car & says Exclusive Member Savings, Click Here! - it's a pop-up window. Currently, the've got a 2-car upgrade valid on 1-day rentals (valid through 3/31/05 - must use AAA CDP) & a coupon for a 1-class upgrade (valid throu 12/15/05 - must use AAA CDP).
Hope this helps some - if we can't get $$ off one-day rentals, at least rent a cheaper car & upgrade! Now, I guess the question is whether its okay to get the upgrade to a mid-size from a lower priced rental & still pay for Neverlost at 8.00 day with AAA?

http://offers.hertz.com/citidiscount04/index.html - you don't really need to be a Citi card holder for this one...unfortunately they're only valid on Premium or higher cars.
December weekend get-away can save you $5 per day, up to $20 off, when renting a Premium or higher class vehicle. (Minimum two weekend day rental is required.) PC# 959630
And January rentals in Florida can save you even more -- $8 per day, up to $40 off the minimum two-day daily, weekly or weekend rental of a Premium or higher class vehicle. PC# 959641
Be sure to include either the December or January promotional code (PC#) in your reservation, along with your Hertz Citibank Discount CDP# 160005. You'll enjoy the dollars off and a discount on the rental too!
Terms and Conditions: At the time of rental, present your Citibank MasterCard® or Visa® credit card or Hertz Discount Card for identification. Advance reservations are required as blackout periods may apply, especially during periods of peak demand. These offers have no cash value and may not be used with any other CDP#, coupon, discount, rate or promotion. Hertz standard driver and credit qualifications for the renting location apply and the car must be returned to that location. Minimum rental age is 25 (exceptions apply). Taxes, tax reimbursement, airport-related fees, vehicle license fees and optional service charges, such as refueling, are not subject to discount.

....and I know this is old news, but I always try PC codes on the Hertz website for so-called "one-way" rentals.
It's sad that they count it as a "one-way" rental even when you're picking up the car in a downtown Hertz office, driving it several hundred miles for a few days, and then returning it to the airport of that very same city!
Sometimes convenience seems to have a high price. :(
Has anyone ever found an exception to this?

Kathy,
I tried searching for some, but couldn't find any - if I do, I'll post them here.
In the meantime, here's some other codes that I found - I don't know the terms & conditions though:
CDP for Travel Coupons Online (reduced a rental by 18% for DCA, but only 5% in LAS) - 1434515 - also, I did a couple of test sells for DCA - if you booked it 1 day out, it only gave a 5% discount, if you booked it 3+ weeks out, it gave an 18% discount.
PC 952081 - Up to $15 off a weekend rental (Class C,D,F,G,L,R)
PC 952066 - One car class upgrade (Class C,D,F) in the US & Canada
(Both Expire on 6/30/05)
PC 955091 - 20.00 off a 2-day rental - not sure when it expires, but it works through February at the very least as I've priced out rentals til then - mentioned on a previous post, but still valid.

In many cities they do not mind if you drop the car at the airport. You can't list it that way on your rental with the coupon, but they don't actually mind when you drop it off.

Try CDP 1229959 and PC 947940 (weekend) or 947962 (weekly). No problem with OW rental MIA to FLL which was off-limits to other offers, at a daily rate of only $28.49. I ran into this same problem on a weekly rate at the HLE on 11th Street near the convention center. The HLE weekly rate won't allow any additional coupons because it is "so low" you can try at the return of the vehicle, but I was told no.
I tried to use the one-day off coupon with a local rate in DC suburban locations. Every time I put in the promotion code the rate went up from $18 to $25 per weekend day for a compact car.

These are as good as I could find for SUV rentals - and the first, a Citibank offer, only works in Florida through the end of the month. The second offer is from the Hertz website.
And January rentals in Florida can save you even more -- $8 per day, up to $40 off the minimum two-day daily, weekly or weekend rental of a Premium or higher class vehicle. PC# 959641
The Citibank CDP is 160005 and was only giving a 5% discount a sample SUV rental I tried.
Now through March 31, 2005, you can Earn 350 Bonus Miles/Points (Double Credit on AirTran and Southwest) and Save $5 per day on qualifying Leisure Weekend Rate rentals of two or more days (Save $20 on qualifying Leisure Weekly Rate rentals). This offer is valid on rentals of any car class at a participating location in the U.S., Puerto Rico or Canada.
To reserve this offer offline, call your Travel Agent, or Hertz directly at 1-800-654-2210 in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, or 1-800-263-0600 in Canada. Or call your local Hertz office. At the time of reservation, you must provide your frequent traveler number, frequent traveler discount CDP number and PC #947940 for 350 Bonus Miles/Points and $5 Off Per Day on Leisure Weekend Rate rentals, or PC #947962 for 350 Bonus Miles/Points and $20 Off Leisure Weekly Rate rentals.

I am finding $102 for a compact with the travelers club code. Is that pretty good?

Any thoughts on a code that allows under 25 year old drivers without charging an arm and a leg? The DoD code (332) allows for 18+ year olds, but has exorbitant mileage charges. I'll be driving from DCA to DFW on while on R&R.
Credentials for potential codes: Dept of Defense, Dept of State and State of Texas employee IDs. Also Amex Platinum holder.
Many thanks!

20% off sounds good enough for me!
When you use Olivetti's CDP of 706900( looks like a travel partner club, but I don't know what it really is), do you need to show something to the agent or they never question that? Thanks.
Wow....this code really rocks. I don't know about 20%, but I punched in the code of the Southwest Airlines web site for double RR credits for a three day mid-week rental in Baltimore for March, and kicked out a price of $60+/day for a mid-size (Mazda 6-class or similar). Using this code, the rate came in at $26+/day. I don't need the extra credit from WN THAT bad....even on my boss' nickel.

ABA (American Bar Association) = 13000
That code allows you to rent under 21-25, and that CDP is good for 10% off or more in most places.
You don't even have to become a lawyer to be part of the ABA...you can get an associate membership for $150 -- or just use the code, most Hertz agents won't even ask about it, especially if you're Gold.

i pair the coupon codes with CDP 1499607 to get another 10% off, but your CDP may be better...
I read all 8 pages of this post and didn't see anyone already ask this question.
How does one "pair the coupon codes with CDP xxxxxxx"?
Is it possible to pair pc codes? say the 2 in the OP? Get a free day AND $20 off on the same rental? I have only suceeded in entering 1 PC code. Do I need to seperate them by space, comma, ?

To pair the coupon codes w/ the CDP number, enter the CDP number in the CDP number field & the coupon code into the PC code field on the first page of the reservation process.
You can't have multiple PC (coupons) in one reservation - so you can't do 20.00 off & one free day - it's one or the other...not both.

I love this PC - it works in combination with an existing CDP, such as AAA, and is perfect for a three day weekend rental. Just remember to make sure it gets applied - I had to have my bill recalcuated last night in OAK - the checkin agent just handed me the receipt and walked away - without applying the PC  I chased her down and had her fix it with no argument. Otherwise, it was a nice rental. Reserved C and got a 2005 Ford Freestlye (Q4) with 250 miles on it.

Can anyone help? I need a one way rental between Las Vegas and returning anywhere in the metro DC area (DCA, IAD, BWI or anything even remotely close, I'm getting desperate). I need a one week rental, any week, really, although the sooner the better. Any days are fine. I'm flexible.
I need a full size, small suv, or minivan.
Thanks so much for trying!!

Here are some current PCs that are valid on G or above. They may have been covered earlier. Just a refresher.
959980 Free Rental Day. 5 day min keep. BCDFG 5/15/2005
966033 25$ off a weekly rental. 5 day min keep G and above. 7/31/2005
952081 15$ off a weekend rental. C, D, F, G, L, R
963373 25$ off on a three day weekend rental. All Car Classes 5/15/2005
959582 20$ off leisure weekend All Car Classes
966022 5$ off per day, max 20$ off. Weekends. G and above 7/31/2005
959976 Free Rental Day . Min rental period 2 days BCDFG 5/15/2005
964655 25$ off prestige collection G and above 6/30/2005
None of the above seem to work on a one-day weekend rental (even the ones that don't list a minimum like 952081 and 952081). Is there anything currently out there that I can use for a single day on a MR on 5/21 at TPA?

952081 requires a weekend keep, so won't work for a one day rental.
Here are a few others:
961030 150 #1 pts on weekend rate, 300 pts on weekly rate. Any car class All Car Classes https://www.hertz.com/special_07/bapawardspts05.jsp 4/30/2005
928653 One car class upgrade. B-F http://ww2.aaa.com/coupon/ZEmemberaaa.html#wkadouw 12/15/2005
Neither of those would give you $s off. Just bonus points or an upgrade. 928653 with a AAA CDP prices the same for a Malibu/Corolla. About 38.70

I used the free day coupon on several 2 day reservations, all priced out fine (ie I'm paying for only one day+taxes). I printed out the webpage for each reservation and don't expect any difficulty...
Good idea to always keep the printout handy. For me, anytime a change is made to a car at the pickup station (car swap, etc.), the coupon code mysteriously disappears and upon return, the rate increases dramatically. It can take a fair amount of time to get the whole thing sorted out, and many times the agent will say they don't have any such coupon and argue the point until I produce a copy of the confirmation.

Hello, this probably seems like a stupid question, but I'm going to ask it. . .
I'm a AAA member. How do I find out what my AAA CDP # is?
I know I can book directly from the AAA website, but I'd like to be able to book online at hertz.com or over the phone. Any help in allowing me to look up my CDP number would be really great.
my club code, if it makes a difference is 097
Thanks

dogface - the AAA CDP is your club code. The midatlantic AAA office's club code is 212 & that's what the CDP is as well.

I always use CDP # 5 for my AAA reservations (it's coded into my Gold profile). Can't remember the last time I was asked for ID. Technically, IIRC, it's not even the right CDP because I'm in NorCal, not SoCal (different AAA's). Guess they don't care...
Anyway, you should see Hertz coupons or ads in your AAA magazine. Some will have the CDP in the ad/coupon. There's your sign ;)
Lately, I've been much better with the Travel Partners Club CDP. I only use the AAA CDP when I've got a good PC to go with it. TPC is usually good for 3-5% more off, especially on weekday rentals, with no PC.

I'm helping arrange this trip for my parents.
They want to rent a mustang convertable for a week in Vancouver, Canada this June that cost $687.00 (American dollars) a week (ouch). With the AAA discount the total is $606.00.
The AAA club code gives a discount of 10 percent, but I can't find any valid PC numbers (or RQ #'s). I've tried every single recently listed one with no luck. Many expire in April and their trip is in mid June. Does anybody have any new codes, ect? Or am I missing something? :-:

Apr 15, 05, 3:16 pm
Well I found the AAA prom code 958716 for $25.00 off, and with the AAA club code (10% off) it brings the price down from $687.00 to $581.00 which is about 15 percent.
I was aiming for 20 percent but maybe I can't do any better?
Are these AAA discounts allowed to be used in conjucture with one another?
I think I'll call the reservatin line a few time and talk to numerous agents to see if I can get a better price.

Do you know for a fact one exists? I've never seen them - only the 25.00 off codes - but those require an actual certificate being handed to the Hertz agent. Also, you may want to try the Amex Platinum CDP - 211762 to see if that works - not sure if you'd be able to combine it with an AAA coupon though. There is the Travel Partners CDP (not sure what it is off the top of my head) which is usually 20%, but the problem with that is that your parents may be requested to show proof of membership (which if they don't have, would jack their rate up to the current price - which would be even more since it'd be an immediate rental instead of an hour's advance purchase. Some of the people here on FT use that code, but they don't have any problems since they have #1 Gold status which allows them to bypass the rental agents - if you're parents are using #1 Gold for the first time on this rental (even if you sign them up in advance), they generally check ID's the first time one uses it to verify identity & benefits affiliations (at least thats what happened to me the first time I used my #1 Gold)

I don't think I have ever seen a Promotional Coupon for a one-way rental.
Usually the only way to get deals on them is to find a station that needs to send one of their cars back to another station, so they will often cut you a deal.

Just be prepaired to present the coupon you recieved from hertz and not a photocopy of one. Some coupons do say that and others don't so be wise and read the fine print on the back before you try to cheat yourselfs. If you show a copy on the front and you don't have the back of the coupon whats to say the guy/gal at the counter won't charge you a high rate plan with this coupon if you don't have the proof from the back.

Got this in my Citi credit card bill today, in case it helps. If it's a repeat, I apologize.
CDP 160005
PC 961553 $25 off week, Premium and higher
PC 961564 $5/day off weekend, $20 max, Premium and higher
PC 965274 $10 off 2-day rental, Premium and higher
Valid through 9/30/05, US, Canada, PR, no blackout dates, must return to same location
The CDP alone seemed to give roughly 15% discount on a midsize sample I tried, but it didn't work for a one-way either.
Nothing says you have to use a Citi card or anything. There's a little paper "Discount Savings Card", but there are no actual paper coupons, just some wording telling you to use the above CDP and PCs.

I would still try to have a copy of the offer, even if there is no specific coupon required. I hooked a friend up with the free day offer (PC 959976), and the Manhattan location he rented from wouldn't give him the discount without a copy of the offer. I am going to rent a car in Malaysia for short periods; eg. 1day or 2 days rentals. I thought that rental there would be much cheaper..but it turns out to be the opposite. Anyone knows of any good CDP or coupons to get better rates? The best rates i can get from my FFP program is about RM180/day.

So even using an Internet code, be sure to take a print out with you. It has saved me from having to write Hertz CS to get my bill re-adjusted many a time.

The thing with using free day coupons is that the return agent has to manually deduct the value of the coupon. Most agents don't know that the value varies and will deduct whatever the EXTRA DAY amount is. Since you returned after hours, the agent closing out the contract probably didn't even bother looking at the PC.

Hertz at DC airports require you to present printed coupon. I rent a car about once/twice a month and they always ask me at the end of my rental return.

I just completed a rental from Hertz at HNL using the Entertainment Book CDP# (which provided a 31% discount) plus the PC 959980 free day promotion. Was not asked for either my Entertainment membership card or any physical evidence related to the free day promo.

I tried using Code 995976 for the free day and IAD Hertz would not give me it without the coupon. The Mazda 6's cruise control was malfunctioning so they gave me a $25 credit towards a future rental so it turned out okay.
tried on a res for 5/20-23..not working..
got this:
Promotion coupon expired for specific date
any one know why? I tried 2 days ago and it worked..:(

I rent with some regularity in my (temporary) home area, and I don't think I've been asked for the paper coupon even once at DCA.

Wow Really?
Whenever I return (usually Sunday night), all the Hertz return people ask me for the coupons (they do not deduct the amount without the paper print out). I once forgot to give it to them and they did not take the discount amount (I had to go to the Gold desk to deduct the amount).
I have rented about 10 weekends so far this year and all 10 times they ask me for the print out.
Are you sure they take the discount amount out at the end of your rental?

Same thing for me at HLE scottdale AZ. Sometime, even I showed them the print out, it seems they always forget to deduct. I had to call them again for the corrections.

So far this thread has 237 posts as of taday including mine. I am sure many coupons codes will be expired and outdated. I will really appreciate if someone who has been following this from the begining can post an uptodate list. That will be a real serivce to humanity. ^

I used two of the most recent codes for myself & a coworker. My coworker got a very nice discount & a free day on her rental over this weekend at her HLE. I changed my res to $20 off and saved some more $ for my 2 day rental this weekend.
I consider these posts to be very useful. So what if I need to take a few extra minutes looking for the code. Worth saving $20 or $30 to do so! :D

Thank you for the info. I am planning to rent a car in OAK from Wed Aug 3 midnight to Sunday Aug 7.(charges to be reimbursed by my employer) and then rent another car from the same location for my personal use that is Aug 7 to Wednesday Aug 10, 10pm.
Any help on valid coupons for August will be highly appreciated. Should I rent two times as mentioned above or one rental with splitting the total cost will be more economical?

Several things:
1. Your request for the above really is on topic for this thread and you probably would have been much better off starting a new thread.
2. Midnight on a specific date is ambigious - do you mean the midnight that is at the beginning of the date or the end of the date.
3. Everything being equal, a weekly rental is usually cheaper than the sum of two smaller rentals adding up to a week. See #6.
4. Everything is not likely to be equal: Does your employer require you to use a specific rate? Often the contracted rate will not be the cheapest (but may offer some benefit like insurance which you might not personally need). I have had the best luck by supplying a AAA CDP number - it usually provides 10% off the best web rates.
5. Try the codes mentioned above. It is not unusual for Hertz PC's to be accepted for reservations outside of their expiration date. Remember to bring the coupon (you might want to trim the page to not include the details such as expiration. As long as the reservation includes the PC and you present the coupon with the PC it will be honored in my experience.
6. Why didn't you just go to Hertz.com and try pricing it both ways? Much quicker than waiting for an answer here.

I had a biz trip in 1994. There were 4 biz days & 3 days of personal. I asked employer at the time (a government agency) about biz/personal. They said since the weekly rental was cheaper than the 4 biz day rental, they would reimburse me the whole thing. Check on the price of the Wednesday to Sunday rental and compare to the weekly price. Weekly will most likely be cheaper. Your employer may be nice & reimburse you for whole week. You could use the coupon code to further reduce the price. (or use a double upgrade coupon to get a nicer car).

Odd: when I log in to the new Hertz.com, I can't select the old partner offers the "earn miles & points" section.
But...when I go to Hertz.com without logging in, I can see those offers. I made a booking yesterday for a 2-day weekend rental that includes $10 off and 1 full WN credit. Right now, that seems to be the best thing going for a 2-day keep.
Still hoping for the Son of 959976 to arrive shortly, but the $10 and extra half-credit yields about the same total value on this particular rental.
I also noticed that the generic airline CDP's (and my AAA CDP) dropped the best-available weekend rate by 26.5% in this case. That was pretty sweet - usually they yield 10% or occasionally up to 20%
