American Express Membership Rewards - Delta American Express credit card free for year, 10,000 miles up front

There is currently an "official" online offer (http://e.delta.com/AC/Clickthru?q=a7-fRV2Q8BDDD0q5poLF58pk7KiwFh3URRR) for a Delta Airlines American Express credit card, free of annual fee for 1 year, 10,000 miles for first use. The offer expires August 31, 2004.

For those that don't know, AMEX seems to be pretty strict at giving only one bonus per card type per person per lifetime. Unlike other cards with bonus offers (like the United Mileage Plus Visa), where you can receive multiple new card bonuses (I'm going on my 3rd MP One), with AMEX, once you get a bonus (either miles or MR points) with one card type (say DL AMEX Gold), it's very rare that you'll ever get another bonus for a DL AMEX Gold card again (I certainly haven't seen cases of it).

If you are going to apply for the current 10k miles bonus offer, you might want to give a little thought to if the bonus every might be higher. There was a 20k offer a few years ago, I only saw that once. I thought I've seen 15k offers occasionally, although perhaps not with the 1st year fee-free.
