I just received my Black card and I'm happy with that ? But my question is that what happens if you spend i.e. 10000 euros / year. Do they change you card back to Gold/ Plat ? Or will you stay as Centurion member as long as you pay your bill in time ? Any experiences?

Thanks !

You have the card and do not know? You supposedly have to have a minimum spend to qualify for the card, but not to keep it.

As soon as you qualified for the card, there is no minimal yearly spent afterwards

If you are going to spend the yearly fee, you better be using it :)

Or it's a "black" hole ;)

I got the Centriuon card about 6 months ago but I use it much, much less than my Starwood AMEX card. I do so because I consider the Starwood points to be significantly more valuable than the MR points. When I got the card, part of the qualification was the large amount I had been charging on the Starwood card.

In terms of the comment about using it or it will be a black hole, I couldn't disagree more. I got the card solely for the multiple elite programs that I now qualify for. As far as I'm concerned, I've already gotten my money's worth. The combination of Starwood points and the Centurion access to Starwood Platinum status is a no-brainer if one can afford it and use it. While I would rarely pay extra for the type of rooms I've gotten, it doesn't diminish their value to me.

On a board like flyertalk, the OP can take comfort in knowing he can apply for any cards he wants that offer FF premiums and use them for a short while, but always have the comfort of the black card to come back to. As stated, they only qualify you once - jsut keep giving them the dues!
