I've tried using both the Dividend Miles website as well as the Mileage Plus site to check availability of an award ticket from CHS to FAT at the beginning of October. Neither site shows that this city combination is possible by using miles - although I could buy a ticket. This doesn't seem right.

Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks!

Call.

I've had trouble booking award travel to FAT before. I had to call.

According to the USAir online booking site:
"Cities that are serviced only by United, or other partner airlines, are not eligible for online award redemption."

I wouldn't be surprised though if you run into problems finding a seat. I had a heck of a time using my United miles for a ticket in and out of Fresno this summer. It took a lot of work to find dates with available award seats.

Recently it seems FAT is a market with lots of demand. Passenger counts on all airlines in and out of Fresno this year are the highest they've been in something like 20 years.

This is a difficult combination, since U does not service FAT and UAL does not service Charleston. You will probably need the services of an agent. This will also require at least two connections.

Even if award seats to Fresno using UA miles are hard to come by, you may have an easier time with your US miles. The tickets come out of totally separate buckets.

I snagged a last-minute 50,000 mile Business Class award on an internationally configured UA 767 from IAD to LAX last month with my US miles---when united.com was showing zero availability across the board on all transcons for MP members. Hopefully you'll run into good luck "getting FAT" with your Dividend Miles as it were :D

UA has 8 flights roundtrips a day to CHS.
