Hilton HHonors - Just Short of Gold

I am a few nights short of Gold - it runs out the end of September. I will make it by the end of the year, but don't want to be without Gold at all as the next stay will be with my family. This stay will put me over the top on nights, so I will make Gold during a stay!?. Other than calling Hilton CS, any other thoughts. Do they take away Gold status that quickly? Thanks again to all. IF the computer shows as gold when you check in - the hotel wont take it away. If your reservations are already booked you can try calling CS and getting them to extend it
