Does anyone know how difficult it is to change a USAirways-issued Star award ticket? I understand that after I start travel, no changes are allowed AT ALL. However, if before I travel I want to make a change to dates/flights (but no change to the cities) do I need for USAir to physically change the ticket, or will a phone call to the reward desk (and a change in the reservation) suffice?

Does the same apply to USAir-issued tickets for travel on UA?

Is it a paper ticket?

I made a change to a *A award ticket and did it through the US DM desk. I don't know if there were other options available.

i can give you a little advice.

as long as you aren't switching carriers for any portion of your ticket, no charge for dates as long as their is availabilty. if you have to change carriers, $50.

I tried to change a KIX-ORD (UA), ORD-PHL (US) to both on UA and $50 was required. (i ended up not doing it)

Yes, I assume that the Star award tickets are paper tickets. I asked this question as I live outside the U.S. (in Asia) and it wouldn't be feasible for me to have to mail the tickets back to the U.S. for even minor flight/date changes on the same carrier.

Yes, any change in carrier requires a complete re-issue (this is true with all of the Star carrier FFPs, BTW). So, for those of you who've made just a date or flight change (but no change in carrier or city pair), you were able to just phone up and you didn't need to have US "sticker" the ticket or touch the ticket at all!

Hi. Can anyone confirm this? Also, can I still change the date of the return flight after using the outbound segment as long as I don't change the carrier?

No, once you start travel, you can not make any changes. Period. No date, no nothing.

thanks for the clear answer. I have just one more quick question: is this also true in case of UA, since UA is also a part of * alliance?

I also jsut changed a *A award, and you have to pay the change fee also if you change routings. I did this earlier today, as I was able to push my New Year's trip to Thailand another day and upgrade from a business award to a first class award.
