Sorry to sound selfish here, but I bought a close to $600 rt ticket on US for Dec. If US were to go under, what would happen to my reservation? I've already pricelined the hotels. Will an airline honor my ticket?

Thanks in advance for your response.

If US should fail, current law requires that other carriers honor those tickets on a 'stand-by' basis. Not the best, but still something. However, I don't know if this applies to all tickets or just paper tickets (If US disappears, accessing info on their e-tickets by other airlines would a doubtful venture).

Also, I read recently (can't find the reference now), that the law requiring other airlines to honor tickets of defunct carriers expires in November.

All this being said, I truly believe US will be around for at least several more months.
