Hilton HHonors - Reward stay: double beds only available???

I was trying to book a HHonors Reward stay for the Hampton Inn in Tempe to see the Rams play the Cardinals in mid-December. However when I try and book at a couple of hotels in the area, the website says two double beds are the only thing available.

I'm 6'5" so a double bed is not an option. How big a risk do I run if I book the double bed and try and get a king when I arrive? (I'm Gold BTW.)

I would make a reservation for whatever room they show available, then contact the property and nicely ask them to switch the reservation to a king. FWIW, I'm yet to be denied such a request, be it on a revenue or an award stay.

You definitely want to call. The HI I'm staying at now routinely sells out their king rooms and only has Doubles.

Same here...If they have it available, they'll give it to you.

Made the reservation and will call the hotel directly and see if they can change it. I checked making a non-rewards reservation and there are still Kings available.

Will being HHGold help any in convincing them to switch the reservation?

I dunno if I'd call it that. I know it's just pre-season but the Rams have stunk it up so far. This regular season could be scary. I have a feeling the Seahawks will win the division. I'm not one of those fair-weather extreme mood swing fans: there's a lot missing on the Rams squad this year.

Figured I'd make the trip during December so I can sample some nice weather. Plus with the Big Red moving into the new stadium next year I thought it would be a lot easier to get tickets this year for a Rams/AZ Cardinals game.

I usually make note in my reservation for a king bed, then make a call later to the property. @:-)
