I didn't even know you can get them. I've had Platinum Amex for nearly 10 years and never even heard of them.

In the UK, they are part of the pack that includes the insurance information and travel benefits. If I need any more tags, I just phone them and ask them to send me the latest version of the travel benefits document, and - lo and behold - a pack with a pair of tags arrives as well.

What exactly do amex platinum/centurion tags actually do ?

Oh no, they shout 'Break into me' at baggage handlers....Nothing quite like a Amex Centurion luggage tag to show you are likely to be wealthy, therefore enclosing a plethora of expensive items in your luggage.

Personally I'd put it on my carry-on for snob factor, next to my silver Concorde one of course :p

Bingo. Given how easy it is to steal luggage in so many places, don't you want to keep a low profile?

I did receive one after tens years of havimg the Platinum card.

I don't want to scuff up the silver Concorde one, so I use the black leather Concorde one. :D
