Hilton HHonors - Can you have 2 bookings in the same city at different hotels?

I am unsure which of 2 hotels I want to stay at, but want to lock in a rate for the dates. Would Hilton's system (as a Gold member) let me book 2 different hotels online in the same city and dates while using the same hhonors number and name?

thanks.

Yes (and your status has nothing to do with it).

Agree, yes.

I had one hotel booked in London on award and then booked an award stay at a different London hotel for the same nights. I had both of them for about a week before canceling the old reservation.

Remember, when you're shopping rates, you should ALWAYS make the new reservation before cancelling the old one so you're never left high & dry.

I often book stays at the same hotel with different overlapping dates (i.e. 9th to the 15th, 10th to the 16th...). When I know my plans are final, I cancel the ones I do not need.

Thanks to all. As it turns out, I need more stays so I am likely to split my week at different properties.

Not at all unknown. If visiting an area where there are a lot of Hilton properties (e.g., District of Columbia) one could do a stay at a different property each night. I also know a FlyerTalker who stayed in an area where two Hilton properties shared a parking lot, and moved from one to the other each day.

How clever...Never thought you could do that...

Yep. You can even book two different rates at the same hotel for the same nights. I am doing this now -- booked a package rate and also the el cheapo rate at one hotel, since I haven't decided yet whether I want the additional amenities in the package or not. Will cancel one of them before the arrival date.

The only time you can get into trouble by doing this is if you inadvertently book a pre-paid noncancellable NetDirect rate.

Yes, I often have more than one simultaneous booking in the same city, even at the same chain, while I decide which one I really want. Of course I always take care that these are NON-prepaid!

Case in point: on short notice, I made a booking for July 4 weekend in Washington DC at the Capital Hilton and another one at the Hilton Garden Inn. I ended up cancelling BOTH and making a NEW booking a day or two later when the Hilton Garden Inn dropped its rates to a bargain $79/night (from $120-ish)! :D
