FYI -- the DT at SFO often has VERY similar rates.

If you search for "Hampton Gateway" some posters indicate they have stayed and much prefer the Hilton Garden Inn South San Francisco.
I've stayed at practically every other Hilton family property north or south of SFO, and have not stayed at the Hampton because of the posts. By and large, the south (Burlingame) peroperties seem more comfortable to me - whether HGI, which is new and has good service; the ES, being revamped and good service; the Doubletree, good restaurant (free breakfast coupons and 40% dinner coupons, as I recall,) accommodations and service, and the quite new but fair HI&S very near the airport, and across the street from the Marriott.
THe ES, 2Tree and HGI Burlingame are within easy walking distance of each other, so you needn't get stuck at one or another for food.
