Here are some Hamptons I have stayed in recently. Most of these are not in the latest version of the Hampton spreadsheet (http://www.tdl.com/~cblaisd/chuck/), but some are. I'm following the standard crhptic rating system of Good / Fair / Bad, with the new addition of Outstanding for the top 5% of Hamptons I've stayed in

Hampton Inn, Troy, AL (On US 231 south of downtown)

Rating: Outstanding

This is a new hotel, and I've already stayed there three times since it opened in March, even though twice I probably didn't have to stay overnight. The manager is wonderful and service is the reason it gets the Outstanding rating. Each time I've stayed there, I've recieved a personal, handwritten welcome card, and twice have been upgraded to a large studio with wet bar. The standard rooms are typical of the new Hamptons. The hotel is very clean and well-kept. Breakfast is one of the best new Hampton buffets around. They have a good selection of cereal and fruit to go with the hot items. Staff is freindly and very competent.

Hampton Inn, Griffin, GA (On US19/GA41, north side of town)

Rating: Good

I've stayed here twice in the last 12 months. Be advised that this hotel has outside corridors, which for many would be an automatic downgrade. Indeed, during my last stay my room faced highway 19/41 and the truck noise was audible even with the door closed. However, this time serivice offsets the physical shortcomings of the place. As I checked in the last time I was there, the front desk clerk was doing laundry herself for a guest who apparently had missed the pickup for the cleaners. Also, the rooms themselves are nicely furnished with a big, comfortable desk. Breakfast is standard new Hampton. This is the only htoel where I have encountered french toast sticks in the hot tray. I dunno if I am just lucky or if they really like them there.

Hampton Inn Birmingham, AL (Bessemer, off I-20/59 southeast of town)

Rating: Good

A good, solid hotel. This one has an interesting floor plan, with a large lobby open up to the second level. My king room was very standard, clean and comfortable. I was rushing out the door on this stay so just grabbed a to-go breakfast bag. Nothing remarkably good or bad about the room or service. It does seem to be less expensive than other Hamptons closer to popular areas of Birmingham.

Hampton Inn & Suties, Anaheim, CA (Garden Grove)

Rating: Good

This one is already in the spreadsheet, but I did notice that it is listed on my reciept as "Hampton Disneyland." This hotel is about 3/4 mile from Disneyland, though there is a shuttle. Breakfast was disappointing here, but you can't swing a cat without hitting a place to eat in the neighborhood. For some reason, my wi-fi card kept picking up the signal from the Hilton Garden Inn next door as the signal strength for the Hampton network was very weak in my room. That was annoying.
