We have flown these flights a number of times.

My expat friends have this option to get from DUS to Indy/Cincy with a 14 month old baby paid by their company:

3 tickets in coach (company would buy baby seat)
2 tickets in business (company would not buy baby seat)

I suggested that they do the Nonstop DUS - ORD and then go down to IND.

Now here is the risk and question:

Based on your knowledge, what is their likelihood if they do NOT buy him a seat and fly the nonstop business only flight that they would be able to have another seat open next to them for the baby to use?

She will be flying back by herself.

Thanks in advance!

BHH,

LH seems to be satisfied with the loads on the Private Air flights ex DUS, but I really doubt that they can fill the whole plane ( i.e. 50 seats ) daily or on 6 days a week.

Be aware that it is a narrowbody with 2+2 seating, but beside that they can use the Senator/First/*Gold check in positions and Senator lounge at DUS.Knowing that LH is pretty desperate to offer a certain standard on the flights, I doubt that blocking another seat for the baby shoud create any problems, especially if you buy two C class tickets anyway...

I would recommend to take the C class option and call LH to see what they can do.

In any case 2*C is better than 3*Y, still I do not like small planes like the 737 on long overwater trips!
