America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Elite Status

Are there any "accelerated" plans for Elite Status? I joined about two weeks ago, and had an IAH-PHX-SAN-PHX-ATL flight last week. Grabbed a little over 5k miles I think.

I am going to do ATL-SAN-ATL quite a bit in the future and wouldn't mind using HP's F class. Just thought I would ask about the status program. I am a+ elite with Airtran and will be GM with Delta next month.

I think HP is fairly liberal with comps. Generally the fastest way is to send a copy of your elite credentials, and your recent activity. I think if you do a search on the HP forum, you'll get more details. I got comped last year without any problem.

The only thing to consider is that the comp only lasts until the end of Feb of next year. If you wait until late October or early November, it'll go another year.

If for whatever reason they won't comp you,call the FF desk and enroll in the Silver challenge.You will be given instant Silver status.There is a thread in this forum with more details about it.

Just make sure you're only comping and using challenges when you're sure you'll need the status. Airlines normally will only comp your status once, so if you just go out and comp status for 4 different airlines, but really won't even use the status they give you, your SOL for when you really need the status in the future.

For your case, Delta, I'd say just ask for the challenge. You'll probably just be able to snag the 5k out of one ATL-SAN run if you include connections in PHX and LAS, and that'll guarantee your status throughout the rest of the program year. And depending on the frequency of your flights, you may be able to get gold status, which I believe requires 12k, and platinum (it it's still being offered) requires 18k (IIRC). The challenge period is 90 days. Good luck.
