Is gold service available in Europe to Americans? If so, do you need to do something special to sign up? Thanks.

Thanks. Yes it is. No special sign up needed if you are gold in the US. A tip for you - I was pricing a rental in Europe today and found that if you go to the country's website (e.g. - for the UK use hertz.co.uk) and enter that country as your domicile, the rates you get are substantially lower. Make the reservation and then call up 800 CAR GOLD and get them to put your #1 Club Gold number on the reservation. Make sure the rate doesn't change. USAFAN Aug 18, 04, 6:39 am Yes it is. No special sign up needed if you are gold in the US..... Yes - that's all true! However, I never got any "Gold-Service" in Europe. Not even at large airports like CDG...I always had to go to the Hertz counter, no cars waiting for you! Hammer Aug 18, 04, 2:54 pm Most airports do have a special Gold counter, but that's all you can expect. The car is at the same place as the other Non-Gold cars. Has anyone ever been tagged on it? Steve NWA-PLAT Aug 22, 04, 12:57 am I am gold in the US. I have travelled to the UK a dozen times or so and each time I go to the Hertz counter I present my gold card. They always say "Oh...I didn't know you were gold". Then I say "Yes. I never get recognized as gold in the UK." Someone finally instructed me to fill out some form on the Hertz web site and now they finally recognize me as gold and I can go straight out to the lot where my car is waiting for me. sucker777 Aug 23, 04, 1:38 pm I am gold in the US. Yes, I learned last week that you do have to fill out a special form, with passport and other info, for int'l gold status. You can find it on the website under personal info. |
