Going to sign up for (free) Hertz #1 Gold. What would you do? Use the code listed on this board for AA PLT customers or simply apply in Europe as I live in Germany for most of the year. Is there any difference at all?

BTW: What's up with 25 pages(!) of small print when you sign up at hertz.de?! :td:

That's when I stopped the sign-up process and decided to check with the experts here first! ;)

Your input is much appreciated!

You will almost certainly be better off signing up in Europe rather than the US. The European requirements for Presidents Circle level are only 30 rather than the 40 for US.
