A post here mentioned that Amex was gonna end its program of letting folks transfer MR points into hotel programs - is that true? I havent been able to glean the optimal usage for my MR points into a hotel program yet.

I defy you to identify this post. It does not exist.

Oh my God, I almost had a heart attack after reading your title.

I hope it is not true.

With the amount of MR points that I have I can either get 4 round trip tickets in coach in the US, or a Honey Glazed Ham

I would take the tickets anytime ;)

I think someone posted recently that after December 31, 2004 you would not be able to transfer MR points to Marriott Rewards. However, I have not seen this directly from AmEx. If transferring points to Marriott is important to you, you might want to investigate directly with AmEx.

You must be a lawyer.

:)

I remember reading something like that during a huge surf session, and wanted to clear up any issues by addressing it directly.

AMEX MR will end transfers to Marriott at the end of this year. It was posted on a recent AMEX MR billing statement recently, and is posted on the Marriott site here: http://marriott.com/rewards/earn/earnmicvt.mi?WT_Ref=mi_left
There has been no info on the ending of any other hotel programs to my knowledge.

For the second time: You did not read "something like that" anywhere in this forum.

I have to agree with that. We would've been all over it.

Well, that is a little over the top, don't you think?

Poster took a pretty confrontational attitude on my original post, when in fact there was a points transfer period ending. If someone talked to you like that in the real world, you'd think they were arrogant and condescending.

The 'net's a great place for people like that so they can condescend with impunity, without regard to real reprecussions. That's what social skills are -- arent they?

I wouldnt talk to anyone like that online or in RL. And I received a few PMs about the poster and his continued attitude in his posts.

:-)

"the Net" might be a place without repercussions, but Flyertalk is not. I've removed a few posts on this thread and will remind participants to take a few min and review the TOS:

If you look at the Marriott forum you'll see the topic discussed. Effective the end of this year, you will not be able to turn Amex points into Marriott Rewards points. Which one is nuts - Amex or Marriott?

Is this posted on the AMEX Reward site? I have looked everywhere without success.
