A quick questions for the experts out there. I have had a blue from Amex for a little while and built up my MR points. Currently they let me transfer them into Delta at a 2 for 1 trade, If I get the rewards card will this let me then transfer my points at a 1 to 1 ratio. Thanks for replies.

With a Gold Rewards Card, I get 1:1 transfer to DL (not including any promotional bonuses).

Correct, but the question is if I upgrade to say the gold, will they leave my total MR points the same so I can then use my old points for my new transfer ratio.

You will be able to use your old points at the new 1:1 ratio ^

Are you enrolled in MR Options? If so, those points are woth 1/2 of regular MR points. If you have no other AMEX cards, the MR program that you are enrolled in will be MR Options. IF, however, you get one of their charge cards then you will be enrolled in the regular MR program AND can link your Blue card to earn regular MR points rather than 1/2 value MR option points.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping. I'm switching to the *wood card and don't want to leave all the other points just sitting there. Now I can upgrade to an MR card and transfer the points I've already built up with a decent ratio.

If I understand what you're saying, you've just changed the facts behind your initial questions, unless you are saying that you are going to get 2 Amexs. As far as I am aware, the *wood AX cannot participate in MR, as the miles go to SPG. I, and I believe the other posters, responded assuming you were converting to a card eligible for MR. You should wait for additional comments from other posters (or call Amex directly to confirm).

You will lose the points if you go to a *wood card, as MR points and *wood points are completely separate.

You need to go to a green, gold or platinum card to keep the MR points, and I am not sure if upgrading your card will allow to do the 1:1 transfer.

If it is a significant number of points, I would go to the green card, move those points, and cancel it before you have to pay another year of membership.
