I thought this flight was going to start.

Any news?

Are you confusing with AKL-SFO return (which has started)?

I thought this flight was going to start.

It did start. October 28th in fact. But of course that was in 1987. The DFW service was terminated in 1989, and the NZ alliance with American Airlines ended in 1991.

Perhaps you are confusing Air NZ with some other South Pacific based airline that currently is in an alliance with DFW-based American Airlines.

It was dropped due to poor loads and yields. What possessed NZ to fly to DFW is beyond me as it's not an important market for New Zealand (no offense). I think they flew 1 -2 a week.

What possessed NZ to fly to DFW is beyond me [...]. . What possessed them? Well, American Airline's ownership interest in Air New Zealand probably had a lot to do with it.

It was QF that (relatively) recently were talking about an AKL-DFW service (connecting of course to all the AA codeshares on to other points in the USA). This was around the time that they started the LAX-JFK service and were planning LAX-ORD, though that one didn't seem to happen either.
