Hertz - qualifying rentals to make president's circle

Quick question about "qualifying" rentals in order to make it to President's Circle status. Can I rent a car for one day, return it and rent another? Does that count as 2 rentals or 1? Most hotels count something like this as one stay rather than two, but I'm unable to find out how Hertz deals with it.

I've calculated that I'm going to have about 35 rentals this year and it seems like a waste to come so close and not make it. Thanks! :)

You can have 40 one-day rentals in a row from the same location and make President's Circle.

Hertz just counts the number of rentals, not the length or how close together they are. I have close to 20 one-day back-to-back rentals from the same Local Edition and they all count towards PC status.

Fantastic, thanks! It does feel a bit like I'm cheating, but if they set the rules and I'm playing within them, I guess it isn't cheating, right? :)

There are instances that the PC Director will make an exception regarding the 40 rental plateau. I rented 38 rentals last year at over 120 total days. I had reserved 3 rentals for the last week of 2003 for my 2004 status. I was misinformed by PC reservations that I had 37 rentals at the end of October. Therefore, I never returned my Volvo S80 for the other 2 rentals because I thought I was clear. I was not and initially lost PC for 2004. I called the PC Director and she allowed a waiver of the 40 rental standard due to 2 reasons:

1: I was a current PC member.

2: I have a long history of renting a lot of $$$ and days, not necessarily rental instances over 40.

Now that I know the game (as I now focus more than airline program), I will make sure I secure my 40 rentals between August and September.

if you have an address which you can use outside the US/Canada, then move your account there and you will attain PC with no hassles since elsewhere in the world only 30 rentals are needed for PC

Last year I had about 12 Hertz rentals. Each was for either 2 or 3 weeks for a premium car, so my 12 rentals amounted to 31 weeks of renting from Hertz and they raised me to PC.

Separate Question: Do one-day rentals using free day certificates (either Five Star or 500-point certificates) count towards PC qualification?

It took me several years of renting 20-35 times per year usually for 5-6 days before someone at Hertz finally decided I was worth Presidents Circle.

Which I do wish that Hertz took into account days as well as rentals, and possibly a bonus for Premium (1.5x rentals or 1.5x days) and Luxury/Prestige (2x rentals or 2x days)which is about all I rent.

Or, if you're a Candian renter, then you only need 20 rentals to make President's Club and only 10 rentals to make 5 Star.

Just spoke with Hertz Singapore and was told that Asia doesn't currently participate in the5* or PC program so my 10+ rentals this year won't even make 5* but was told that they're looking into it. But, Gold does come free, not $50/yr so that kinda helps. :)

You were VERY Lucky!!!!!!! They just don't do this on a normal basis.

Also, I wish they would go to a system like National has. You reserve the level of car you want, and pay the next lowest rate.

Reserve Luxury, pay Premium rate.
Reserve Premium, pay full size rate.

and on down the line.

How is this different to how PC works. I book a car of the level 1 down from what I want (Group D: Ford Falcon at AUD42 a day inc all taxes) and get the next group up (Group F: Ford Fairlane) ? It seems fundamentally the same process as it would be to book a Fairlane and be charged for a Falcon

The Hertz method also seems to require a simpler programming system for the site. It can bring the rates up as normal and just have the car allocation change done by the renting office rather than having to adjust the rates per car group displayed
