American Express Membership Rewards - AMEX to Marriot Points

I have read in previous posts that you can get 1 Marriot point for 1 AMEX reward point. On the AMEX website they say you get 1 Marriot point for 2 AMEX points. Does anyone know what the real deal is and how to get the 1 to 1 ratio? Thanks

There are currently 3 bonuses for xfer to Continental ... posted in other threads (I believe in the Continental forum). 1) 25% bonus miles; 2) 1000 bonus miles; 3) PC club membership w/ xfer of 75k.

If I currently own Blue, and therfore have MR Options, and have to transer to Marriott at 2:1, what Amex cards can i get to change to normal oprions and transfer all the current points I have to Marriott at 1:1

I don't know about Marriott itself, but for miles, if your current yeild is 2:1, you can call AMEX MR and pay a service fee of $35 to increase the yeild to 1:1.

"VALUE" is a very subjective thing. I personally think the "travel packages" are the best value for MR points - but if you do not fly on any of the airlines that you can transfer MR points to, they it clearly is not a "Value" for you. It has been mentioned above, and in the other forum you posed this question, that there are bonuses on transfers to CO and BA, thus adding even more "Value" to those that desire miles with these programs.

well actually many people have determined the $ value of of a mile on flyertalk. Let us say $.01 is a good value. So 100,000 points are worth a minimum of $1,0000. What awards in particular the hotel,air, car that seem to be the best value in the 100,000-250,000 point range. I am not looking for anything and like leaving my points with amex just in case someone goes under or devalues the program...In this case I may just want to move lets say 100,000 and redeem the award but know that a certain award is more valuable.

MR can be cashed in at $.01/point - so yes, that's the bare minimum. Personally, I value them at about $.023 ea +- .003 That's based on various bonuses (like 25% xfer to CO) and a 35k award ewr-ogg. I wouldn't cash them in for less than $.02.

Consideration for delaying transferring points from December into January (opposite of your question):

As you probably know, you can t/f MR points into ANA. ANA miles expire at the end of the second year following the transfer (as I understand the rules). So MR points t/f to ANA in Dec 04 expire in Dec 06. MR points t/f to ANA in Jan 05 expire in Dec 07. Thus, more advantageous to move in January than in December.

If you move the miles to ANA from AX, you can use the miles on its partner *A carriers: for example, 100k gets you a F tic (flat bed) on LH to Germany or 90k gets you a C tic on ANZ to NZ or OZ (at least to NZ, flatbed after plane convertion next year). Both of those would likely be worth much more $1000.
