I recently booked an America West flight with the thought that they were still partners with Continental. Since, I travel rather infrequently, I did not realize that their partnership ended 2 years ago. The flight is nonrefundable and essentially nonchangeable. Any suggestions for getting miles on another carrier? It seems like their partnerships are pretty limited. How easy to accrue/use miles on Flight Fund? Thanks.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, yanshiang

Applicable partners for earning mileage will depend upon where your trip is. If it is domestic US, your options are:

Hawaiian Airlines -- the only one without any fine print.

British Airways -- discounted tickets only earn 25%.

Virgin Atlantic -- eligible fare classes only.

Northwest Airlines -- If flying to/from Canada, Mexico or Alaska, or connecting to NW to Asia. No other HP domestic routes qualify.

You are right that HP's partnerships are limited. (Rumor has it that Royal Jordanian is soon to be added, though! )

As for using miles, I don't usually use miles for domestic tickets, so I can't speak to availability. I use them for premium cabin international tickets, primarily on BA. I've had very good luck getting BA First and Business Class seats via HP FF and that particular department is the very best in the airline, in my experience.
