Can this code be used at any location? I'm looking to rent in FLL for a week starting tomorrow and would love to find a working discount code. Thanks.
I use it in FLL regularly. Never a problem

This code is giving me about 40 pounds ($80) off a one day UK rental.
Has ayone had problems or been asked for ID?
Many thanks!

I also still find the "L" code to be the most consistantly best value with no hassle to use. It may not be the absolute lowest price in every case, but it's so consistant I don't need to waste time checking different codes. It does belong to Kellwood and there is no I.D. required. I use it every week.
I tried to use this code yesterday and got a popup - this is not a valid code :(

Thanks for this great AWD code. It gave me a good discount for an upcoming rental in Austin...My question is, have you ever tried using a coupon code in addition to this AWD? There's a coupon on the site currently (MUWA086) for $30 off a weekly rental. Apparently, the coupon isn't applied or reflected in the total until the time of actual rental. I was able to make a reservation using both L093590 and MUWA086, but obviously, the coupon isn't reflected in the total yet. Just want to make sure it won't "red-flag" me at the counter when i show up to get the car...
Any insight wold be greatly appreciated!

D005927 is no longer working for UK rentals. I've used this code for several years, but today, I get all through the reservation (no pop ups or anything to say its invalid) and it simply fails to complete (see my post on is the avis website broken). Through a process of elimination, I've discovered the code is the problem.
Incidentally, I have used this code many times in the UK and never been asked for verification, so if it works for you, go for it.
Jennifer
Edited to add: I seem to be having the same problem with every code - bah humbug. Yet, I can make a non-discounted booking with no problems. I'll try again tomorrow

Any cupon with "M" in the front means "money off", or a specific dollar amount. With Gas prices as they are now a days, the "G" coupons are more and more popular. "T" stands for time. Just a little inside info that means nothing to this discussion.
If my memory isnt faulting me, MUWA031, 032, 033,034 are paperless dollar off coupons that the res center uses to hook you in case your faltering on the rental estimate. "I can give you 25 dollars off for a week to make it better...../" MUWA034 I think is 35 off 3 weeks.
As a former avis employee, its difficult to discern what each code is and what each coupon is without having access to Wizard, but I will say that pretty much every coupon that starts with a M will work on pretty much any AWD Code. Where it gets tricky is whether they need the coupon or not.
Avis had "paperless coupons" that will show up in the rental without any issues. Those coupons will say "no coupon required" or "discount card, expires". Read the coupon and see if it says "present back to customer" on the back.
Tricky, because the avis rental computer will take your coupon over the computer and make it look like it took the coupon, but really all its doing is
"if paperless, put coupon number in the Coupon field."
"if coupon is required, put note in file saying 'wants to use this coupon' and leaves the coupon field blank."
if its truly a paperless coupon, it will accept it, no issues. discount will be reflected at the end of the rental (all coupons are reflected at the end of the rental, regardless of what the coupon says. When the computer gets a authorization from your coupon, it gets an auth for the amount WITHOUT the coupon, because if you fail to meet the criteria o the coupon like not honoring the saturday night overstay, or didnt return the car at the right location, or some othe rreason, it will kick the coupon out).
IF i were in your situation (and im much more slick about it, because I know the system) I would just go to any avis location, ask them to pull up my reservation and look and ask them to print out a copy of the reservation for my records (anyone can ask that). They would hit print s on the command prompt, sending a print screen of that file to the printer. From there, I could see if the coupon was in the "RMK" line or the "CPN" line. RMK means they need the coupon, CPN means its paperless. (RMK bottom of page, almost last line, starting all the way on the left, CPN top, second or third line of type, far right)
If they require presentation of the coupon, there is a 50/50 chance that you will get questioned on the coupon. Honestly it depends on the location, the person, and how long into the shift the person is. The nicer you are, the more likely they are to take it and just use it with no issues. As a Preferred, you may need or get flagged to go inside to present that coupon, but remember, you can give it to them at the end as well. As long as its less than 24 hours from when you reciept was printed, the agent can apply any coupon to your rental and issue a new reciept. After one day, only the reservation center can do it.
All this work could be avoided if I could read the could see the coupon. its alot to type in, but the wording on the cpn "instructions to rental agent" will be able to tell me exactly about that coupon.

I use coupons all the time with the "L" code. If the coupon is not valid with the code, you get an error message. If it is valid, it shows up on the right side of the confirmation screen inside the box next to "coupon". It never deducts from the total on the confirmation. Use the coupons and don't worry.

For future reference, I got D005927 to work on a UK rental again. I think the problem was that, in the past I have always rented intermediate cars with this code (because for the longest time they were coming up only a couple of dollars more than sub-compacts). That seems to have changed, however. Because of this, I was attempting to rent a sub-compact, but that seems to be the problem: this code requires compact or above to work. Incidentally, none of the other current codes gave ANY discount in the UK: the rate stayed the same no matter what.

J868801 has always given us very good rates at MCO. It's a corp rate I got from the Florida visitor's bureau a few years ago. Available to anyone.
I'm using it again this April.
Thank you very much Coastergirl. This code reduced all other decent code selections by almost $100 for a Thur-Mon Final 4 weekend trip to Atlanta.
Seems almost too good to be true, but I'll take it.

Thanks for the detailed response - and thanks also to bob1008 for confirming what i hoped was true.
That coupon is active on the Avis.com site currently ($30 off weekly rental), and seems to be a "paperless" coupon. You just click on the banner and it automatically inputs the M code in the coupon field. I just added the L code in the AWD code field, which is what actually brought the rate down...

Hi All
All I can say is WOW! I stumbled upon this forum by chance and for the last couple of hours reading posts in all the different forums and have really been impressed to see such a coterie of smart people.
I think I can explain my dilemna here and I'm sure somebody would definitely be able to help me out. I'm a frequent Flyer to the extent that I go to different places every week (without fail) and come back to San Diego (home base). most of the time I don't care about what I pay for flight or rental car as my company takes care of it. But on personal travel I end up paying a huge amount of money to rent a car. Reason, I' under-25. If I use my company's AWD, it gives me qoutes of almost $50 a day for an intermediate car (but takes away the under-age fee), If I don't use it, I pay underage fee and at some places I'm not even eligible to rent. I tried using A153700 on Avis and it works wonders, my question is that does it waive the underage fee? Also, does anybody know of any other codes which waive the underage fee? I need mmediate help as I'm flying to DFW tmrrw from Nashville and need to rent a car at DFW.
Any help would be highly appreciated
Cheers

yes, it waives underage fee, but with a catch. That is the EMPLOYEE code. if the location has any skill, you will be asked to show your employee swipe card. A153722 is now used for family of employees, but its use requires an accompanying letter of introduction on company letterhead with the name of the manager writing the letter, the employee relation, and the name of the employee. A153722 does NOT waive underage fee. It also has the phone number (cell) of the manager who wrote the letter and Avis managers almost ALWAYS answer their cell. I was told not answering my cell means that I am not on duty, ergo my company rental car should be turned in as it is for "on duty" use only. so I always answered my phone.
So you can try...but i know people who were banned from renting with avis for getting caught using this. If caught, best case scenario, you need to find a new car on the fly, or pay the walk up rate for underage no reservation, worst, you can never rent with Avis and Budget RAC again.

Thanks for the insight. I think it'd not be a good idea to use this then as I rent from Avis all the time for my official travel and getting blocked would be a big deal as my company has an agreement from Avis only.
Do you know of any other "SAFE" code which waives the underage fee?
Cheers

I've been trying to figure a way out so as to get a good rate and avoid the under-age fee but it seems, THERE IS NO WAY OUT.
If I try to use an AWD which waives the under-age fee, I have to use the "check the lowest rate" to get a good deal but doing that leaves the benefits out which means I have to pay the under-age fee. If I check the corporate rate, its way higher than the usual. In any case I'm paying way more than the usual.
I've browsed through hundreds of pages in this forum and could only see a lone post regarding this issue and that too with nobody pitching in with a solution and that was way back in 2004.
Is there really "NO WAY OUT"?
There are so many smart people around, there has to be a way out.
I'm gng to meet my girlfriend tomorrow in Dallas. Considering its a financial suicide to go meet her on the weekend following V-Day, wherein I'd be made to pay for her V-Day shopping spree, it'd be nice to save something on a car. :)
Cheers

part of the problem is "there is no code that waives" underage fee.
There are only codes that are "negotiated rates that allow underage renters."
Those codes are based upon negotiated rates that those companies agreed to. For example, There are a few firms in Seattle area that have underage capable company codes. Those codes are NOT the normal codes that the company uses. They have two sets of codes. The first code is the standard over 25 code. The second one is an underage code that is more expensive.
When a company negotiates underage codes with Avis, they put an additional fee ito the price, which is why you see a more expensive rate. So its up to the company to decide "would it be better to have two codes, and let the younger renters pay much higher rates, and we reimburse them" or "allow all employees under one rate, causing a cheaper overall rate, but more expensive than if we chose to not allow underage renters."
The best underage code that I know of is a WalMart Distribution center code in Oklahoma. tulsa I believe. Nationwide under 25 was around 26 dollars a day compact non peak. Your SUPPOSED to show ID proof of employment or bring a paystub, but many locations forget.
The next question your gonna ask me is "whats the code"?
I dont remember it. I gave you all the info I know already. If you are capable of calling the call center and booking a reservation without alerting them to the deception, go right ahead. Once you have it, use the res number and go to avis.com and look at the reservation online. You will see the AWD there.

I'm new to this forum but not so new to traveling ;-) Anyway, I thought I would share my little tricks on finding great Avis (and other car rental companies) AWD's.
I simply search Google using the following keywords:
Conference May 2007 Orlando Avis AWD
(of course, adjust month, year, city, rental car company, and rental car company code - i.e., 'AWD' for Avis, 'BCD' for budget, etc.)
The fun part is, that the AWD's you get are published ones and as long as you can convince the clerk that you are going to whatever conference, then you are in good shape. The key is to look for "BIG" conferences (IEEE, Telecommunication, Medical, etc.) not those little "Brickmaker Assoc.", ...
For example, Orlando is hosting a IEEE conference in March and if you are there, use AWD code A606094, or in May use AWD T706699 for a Telecommunication conference, ... both of these codes knock off about 40% (!) and even work (at a lower discount) elsewhere ...
Well, those are my 2-cents worth ...

actually, not a bad idea. Conferences usually get decent discounts, as good as the best AWD's for corporations around. The benefit is that you usually do not need to show any ids for these AWD's.

Try a priceline bid for a full size or premmium. I do not know what the laws are as far as "pre teens" in the front seat, but that may restrict you to SUV's and vans if they such a law.
I would suggest to start bidding for a full size at about 22 a day and have several emails handy in case they input bid restrictions (which happens). walk your way up until your bid gets accepted. when its accepted, priceline will offer you upgrades within their system for x dollars more per day. use those options to decide which would be best.
remember that you will be locked into this deal no matter what, itll be prepaid.
You could also try hotwire, but they will be a tad more expensive, but there you can see the prices without comittment.

I'm planning on going to Alaska in the fall for a few days before our cruise departs. I've found that the Florida Visitors Bureau code (J868801) gives me the best rates (about 30% off of my corporate rate that can be used for personal use). When I use the code at Avis.com, it does not prompt me to use the AWD I entered or the one associated with my account, it just accepts it. So, I have 2 questions. Do you think I'll be questioned with this code in Anchorage? Also, will my preferred select/avis first benefits apply (possible upgrade, skip the counter, etc)?
Thanks in advance!

Probably a note in your Preferred acct that says "verify AWD use" if you used that acct that time. The interesting thing is tha tthere are back end security measures that arent apparent to the counter. For instance, your DL number might be on the hidden list, every time you rent, they verify for authenticity. Get caught again, youll be on the "at risk" list, which is public and better known as the "do not rent" list.
Be carefuly.

Why use such risky code? This is indeed Florida Empolyee discount code. If you are unable to provide proof upon rental, you may end up paying full price. I have found AWD C031529 (some technology company) offers better discount without need of ID. Case in point:

It means a State of Florida employee, but it's actually the Florida State University contract which is made available to all State employees as well as all state college and university employees. I am a Florida public college employee, and have used this code many times. FWIW, I've never been asked for my ID (but always have it ready). The contract specifically allows personal use with this code, so it's no problem to have a boatload of kids in tow. Interestingly, if you use a Wizard number with this code you will get rack rates. I don't know if that's normal or not, but it definitely affects the rates on this code.

All of the Avis coupons (some that have repeatedly saved me a significant amount of money) have disappeared and been replaced by a single significantly less useful (actually useless to me) coupon that requires you to rent a GPS unit to get a free one car class upgrade.
For frequent Avis renters, this could be a bad sign for the future with Avis - fewer good discounts to be offered? :td:

Does anyone have a code that will give a good rate on a full size SUV rented from JFK on June 12 for 7 - 9 days? The rates are so high, but we have a lot of people so we want to get the SUV if we can get a good rate on it. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I use this code P382630. It from the Engineers Australia. Reduces the rates, esp. in Europe very nicely. Never been asked for proof even if I could.
Also, does anyone has experience what to do, in regards to membership levels, when moving around the world. I live on and off at different continents.
I was given Avis First, as I do have a US adress, but am not reachable there due to work overseas. Are the weekend coupons only good in the US??
And still, I can not enter the Avis First site, despite multiple emails and phonecalls. Any suggestions??
I'm planning on going to Alaska in the fall for a few days before our cruise departs. I've found that the Florida Visitors Bureau code (J868801) gives me the best rates (about 30% off of my corporate rate that can be used for personal use). When I use the code at Avis.com, it does not prompt me to use the AWD I entered or the one associated with my account, it just accepts it. So, I have 2 questions. Do you think I'll be questioned with this code in Anchorage? Also, will my preferred select/avis first benefits apply (possible upgrade, skip the counter, etc)?
Thanks in advance!
If you are renting at ANC, then preferred benefits do not apply. The AVIS facility at ANC is a franchise. They don't ask any questions on the AWDs used. I used a certain corporate code to get a pretty good deal. Let me know if you want to use that AWD.

Anywhere in New York City will be VERY high. If you can fly into EWR, the price will drop dramatically

You will also loose the Avis itunes, and credit for partner miles, if using state codes.

weekends in Manhattan are when the cars are used the most. Everyone rents em to get off the island, escape the urban jungle.
Weekend rates in Manhattan are the highest in the nation, its likely not much discounts can be found for there.

I'm curious to get some input on opinions about rental insurance. For years I've used my favorite code #L093590 which has free LDW with a $3k cap, and also gives me a consistantly good rate without going crazy checking 10 different codes. But lately I've been buying the LDW from Avis from $10 - $15 per day.
I've had a couple co-workers involved in accidents lately with rental cars and I have re-thought the issue:
a) My absolute maximum liability with #L093590 is only $3K. But do I want to put in a claim with my auto insurer for $3K and risk a possible rate increase on
all 3 cars on my policy? Probably not. So I'd have to pay it out of pocket.
b) I consider the free credit card (Amex) insurance a waste as they will not act as a primary insurer if you have other coverage (auto policy).
c) I've found that the LDW insurance is very negotiable at almost all Avis counters. I'm sure it is a very high profit product and it seems the agents are empowered to discount the insurance greatly.
d) I've spoken to the claims dept. at Avis and was told that if you have an accident with their vehicle, and you have purchased LDW, it is pretty much a
"hands off, no questions asked" procedure, unless there was blatant negligence or issues (Drunk driving, etc) involved. Complete the 5 minute accident report and be on your way with a replacement vehicle.
So I'm thinking......I get a good discount with my code....is it worth it for an extra $40-$50 bucks per rental (average 3 - 4 days) to know that if I smash up an Avis car, I can just leave their wreck where it is, and go get another car at the closest airport? No hassle, no claims, no stress. I'm hearing more and more about rental car accidents for some reason and I'm thinking that it may be worth it. Even though for years I've been in the group that considered
LDW to be a total ripoff.
Opinions?

Does anyone have a coupon with a good rate for a one week rental of a full size car or an SUV to be picked up at the Philadelphia airport in mid June? The Avis websie is showing a cost of approximately $450 for a one week rate. I'm hoping to get a better price than this. A lower price would be better to me than bonus airline miles but I will take what I can get! Thanks in advance for any help.

It's probably a matter of exposure. You rent a lot of vehicles, so there is quite a bit of exposure. On the other hand, over time the extra $40 or $50 adds up. So you could just pay the $3000 out of personal funds if it happens rather than making a claim on your own policy, reasoning that over the years you will have saved that amount by avoiding the $40 or $50 with each rental. Or, your own policy may be generous with rate increases, because the amount paid out is relatively small...$3000 vs. $150,000.

Why use such risky code? This is indeed Florida Empolyee discount code. If you are unable to provide proof upon rental, you may end up paying full price. I have found AWD C031529 (some technology company) offers better discount without need of ID. Case in point:
FLL April 21-28
A113400 - $166 Full Size
C031529 - $150 Full Size
MCO April 21-28
A113400 - $209 Full Size
C031529 - $160 Full Size

Was just about to post my experience with J868801. Used it on a 3-day rental out in California. We ended up returning to an airport location (we picked up in the city and intended to return there) without any additional charges. In fact, at the dropoff, as the agent was looking at the rate terms she mumbled something to the effect of "Wow, yeah it just says you have to return it in the same state.....this is a great rate, I've never seen it before." But she didn't question. I just smiled :)
So, out of curiousity, I just made up a one-way itinerary in CA and it took the rate from $218 down to $75!!!
SUMMARY: J868801 could be a gem for one-way rentals, but as always, YMMV.

Avis does not verify the AWD discount codes you use. But you are only eligible to use a code that you qualify to use. Like AARP, AAA, Costco, USAA, or the company in which you work for. Some AWD codes come with insurance included, so that could account for the difference in using one or not using one at all.

It looks like you haven't tried AWD D005927, at least for European rentals. In this case, it trumps C031529 by a wide margin. Case in point: for a two day rental of an intermediate vehicle in France(ORY), w/ C031529 the base cost is 142EUR; w/ D005927, the base cost drops to 85EUR! Extend the same rental to three days, and the rate w/ C031529 becomes 180USD; w/ D005927, it's 108USD, which is less than the two day rental in EUR!

BTW: any ideas as to why all the majors are showing huge (x 2 or more) price jumps in BOS this summer? They always went up after the 4th of July, but by $20-30 week. This year's increases are by hundreds of dollars. Avis $134/wk fullsize now becomes $296 in July with an AA AWD, $350 w/o; Hertz is a few bucks more and National more than both...
I would think higher gas prices and a slowing economy would mean price cuts, not massive increases.

So does every other code I have. The point is that even $293 is more than twice what I'm paying now for the same week-long rental and much, much, more - by lots of $$$ - than I've ever seen in Boston before.
Less than 20% off is hardly a good deal when the starting price is - by historical standards hereabouts - ridiculously high.

Usually not, unless it's a promo code (i.e., Amex gas card deal). When changing the code from the one bound to your Wizard number, you will often lose Preferred benefits on the reservation (and the res. will not appear in your logon page) - but you can always try hiking to the Preferred Booth and seeing if they will service you.

Hello all --
I searched the board, but couldn't find a definitive answer on this question. I booked two one way rentals for next week using the A074800 code (CitiFinancial) from Buffalo to Toronto and the A674600 code (unknown origin) for the return trip a week later and got some great rates, however, I'm fearing when I get there they won't honor one or both codes and I'll be stuck in Toronto paying a ridiculous amount to get back. Does anyone have experience with either or both of these codes and whether anyone can use them or if I will need to show some sort of ID? Thanks everyone for your help with this.
If you use C031529 it will be okay. No ID is needed for this one.
Edit
WARNING: DO NOT use Avis C03___9 AWD discount code anymore. I got a
very reliable confirmation from an inside guy that this code is black
listed now. Effective immedately, all benfits associated with code are
removed(including free LDW insurance), anyone use this code will pay
maxiumum rack rate regardless of reservation or website showing rate as
well as company ID must be produced. A warning flag has been raised on
this AWD and most likely you will be questioned about where you got the
code. All in all, this code is nothing but trouble from now on.
Oh well, it was great while it lasted.

If you find an AWD code that is cheaper than the one associated to your Wizard number, can you make a reservation at the lower rate and still get the Preffered perks like hopping on the bus to go straight to your car?Actually, prior to my being invited into the Chairmans Club, my experience in using different AWD codes with Preferred Select reservations was as follows:
If I got the cheapest rate with my WIZ-linked AWD code, of course all went well including getting credit for the rental towards future Preferred Select status.
Sometimes I would get a cheaper rate on the AVIS website with non-WIZ-linked AWD code, which also ended up getting me credit for the rental towards future Preferred Select status.
Occasionally, some AWD codes would get me a really good rate, but on trying to finalize the transaction I would get a message "The Discount Code you have entered is not compatible with your Wizard ID." In most of those situations, I signed out of the AVIS site, made the reservation on the site as a non-AVIS member (using the desired AWD code), and then called AVIS Preferred's Customer Service to have them link my WIZ ID to the reservation.

I am going to be needing a car for 10 days (DEN-LAS) for an upcoming trip in 3 weeks.
The best rate I have received so far is for the intermediate suv using the C031529 code. Still the rate after taxes is coming out to be $ 599. Base rate is $ 458 for 9 days and 20 hours. I would actually prefer a premium car, but it has excessively high rates.
I want some tips on whether this is the best I could get for my trip or if I should be trying other options/codes?
I have tried various codes that I found on the last couple of pages, except the ones starting with A and some other codes that were deemed problematic.
I just want to make sure that they don't ask for any kind of special ID or actual flyer or something to validate the code and so only want to use the legitimate codes - this is just to avoid a last minute extortion from anyone where I would have no choice but to go along.
Thanks

Delta has a code that provides the same %'s as the Citi code in the thread. In addition, until mid-july you can get up to 5,000 delta miles depending on the length of your rental. I received an email from delta w/a link to avis for the promotion.

Citi Code:
Subcompact Chevrolet Aveo or similar 36.00 USD
Compact Chevrolet Cobalt or similar 36.00 USD
Intermediate Pontiac G6 or similar 37.00 USD
Standard Size Chevrolet Monte Carlo or similar 38.00 USD
Full Size Chevrolet Impala or similar 39.00 USD

Citi Code wins for me. OTOH, for DL elites, 11.99 for 1,000 EQM is not a bad ppm :)

Here's one from Midwest Airlines that seems to work out pretty good.
25% on intermediate gave me $371 all in in Anchorage downtown for labor day weekend (4 days) additional of about another $35 if at the airport. Comes out to about $90 a day. Seems decent for Alaska.

It's helped me secure a good rate in France.I think that one belongs to the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Not sure if proof of ID is required...I've used it many times in different areas of the world (usually Europe) with no issue. YMMV.

I used the A074800 code and that has given me by far the best rate so far ($ 425 for a full size) after the C031529 code ($ 667 for a full-size).
The big question now as someone else asked before is whether using this code requires one to produce some kind of an ID? It is suppose to be a Citi financial code?
I am thinking of making dual reservations, one in the wife's name with the A** code and the other with the regular C** code. I would first try to give them the details of the reseravtion with the A** code, and if that does not fly then go back to the other one with the higher price.
Anyone have other suggestions?
btw, the delta code was suppose to be a good one though I can't qualify as it is only valid until july 15th.
Thanks

obviously, it all depends on the location and 1way vs. rdtrp. i have used the Citi and Delta (i don't even fly delta, but gonna have a free flight soon b/c of Avis) at the same airport for more than 2 months. some weeks it's the same, some it's different.
Hence, more codes, more searching = better rates.

AWD D005927, according to my information, is the Amateur Sports Assistance Program. I use it quite often and have never ever been asked for ID. Actually, I've used a variety of AWDs over the years and have never ever been asked for ID for any of them. Fortunately, the D005927 code is compatible with my WIZ#, too.
Incidentally, D005927 replaced D002807 (same sponsor) sometime in 2004.

Looking for best ONE WAY CAR RENTAL rate from Kansas City, MO (airport or other location) to the Indianapolis, IN Airport. Last year I rented from Avis and had a 140.00 rate including miles. This year the rates are up to 350 with miles. How do I find a good Rate with no miles. I used this link from another thread but the rate was billing out miles.

Um, you may be thinking of "D005297". I've been using it in Europe and it's quite the deal. I just booked a midsize in DUB 19 days for $738 base (Ireland is insanely expensive in August!). Just to compare, I price checked "D005927" and the base rate is $821. Careful with those transposing those digits!

I know you Q was about an Avis code, but...Depending on your location, needs, etc. Enterprise usually has solid rates from their off airport rental locations. Plus, you lose the airport fees. Just something to consider, whether it is worth your time, effort, and $ is another story.

You are right about A074800 is better at ORD for regular cars. I think it might be because this location rasied their pirces on the cars so much but A074800 must have pre-negotiated rates for regular car classes. For other vehicle classes at the same location / time:
Full Size SUV
C031529 480.69 USD
A074800 505.99 USD
I need to rent a car from August 6, 2007 to August 20, 2007 at Barcelona Airport (BCN). I've found an AWD number upper in this topic (D005927) and I run a search on avis.com to get a quote. First quote, without any AWD number and my citizenship Romanian I got 530 EUR , the second time when I used this awd code D005927 I got my quote 313 EUR . Amazing , what can I say , 200 EUR discount hell of a deal, but , what are the risks for me to book the car with this code ?

Seems nobody could answer to this ... so I've asked Avis directly
Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for contacting us through the Avis website.
In order to use a specific AWD number, you have to be affliated with that
company (as an employee) or a member of the organization...You will have to
show proof at the counter to beable to use the discount. If you are not
part of the company or organization, and when you get to the counter, they
will charge you accordingly without it.
Look forward to assisting you in the future and thank you for choosing Avis.
Seems nobody could answer to this ... so I've asked Avis directly
A bit late now for this particular poster, but for people contemplating contacting Avis regarding questions like this in the future, please do not do it. We have seen with other companies that queries like this can prompt changes to their policies that curtail the value of these codes to the FT community.

The last one is a United "promo" that purportedly saves up to 25%. That's almost a fraudulent advert, as it is higher than the orbitz rate!

Thanks again to whoever first posted the citi rate.
And feel free to use the DC Bar rate, nobody has ever asked for my membership card.

Code A153700 is listed on the first page of this thread, as well as many posts warning against using it throughout these thread pages. It's the Avis Employee Discount Rate, so unless you are really an Avis Employee, don't use it, as you'll get nailed for it at pick-up.

D005297 gives me a $175 intermediate rate at DTW, $25 less than the Citi rate (A074800) and quite a lot less than some of the others (for example, D005927, which has been very good for me in Europe, comes up with $348!).
For those who are interested, I've used 5927 - the Bankruptcy Trustee rate - twice in the past year in Italy and Austria with no issue and very good pricing. There's no verification/ID required for general corporate rates. As always, YMMV - so I make "backup" reservations at another agency - but I've never been challenged, and I've used FT-posted codes 4 or 5 times without issue.

A few weeks ago at DCA when the weather was spectacular, they didn't have any problems giving me the Spyder upon request, when I booked full size (also while using the $30 off a 3 day rental coupon). I'm a First member, but don't know how much impact that had. If you're looking for a convertible that's overall pleasant, you're much better off with the Mustang. If you're looking to turn heads of everyone around, then the Spyder is the one for you... just depends on your desires.

I just used D005297 at DTW & it worked just fine. I reserved last week when I saw the post for it at $175.00. The shuttle bus takes you to Avis. The courtesy driver on the bus has a database and he pulls up your name & reservation if you're a preferred customer and once you get to the lot your name is on the board with space # and you just go and get in your car. All you need is your drivers license on the way out. I would suggest everyone sign up for the preferred service because it's free. No waiting in lines and if you already have a credit card on file you don't have to go in.

I used it without problem at a city location in London in April and saved about 15 sterling per day.
After running it through Google and digging through many pages, I'm pretty sure it's some kind of discount tied to American Airlines - not an employee or corporate discount but something that is offered on events that someone has negotiated special pricing for the airfare through American. That seemed to be the one common denominator for all the events that it is was tied to.

Could it also be that the Summer season has ended and prices go back to normal so that one still gets the 40% discount which one gets with the D005591 code.
I recall that this happened last year too. Normally I pay £ 67.20 for an intermediate for 4 days at my regular rental station but during the summer season it was a ridiculous £ 42.
By the way if any one is renting in Spain ( AGP ) use code A432123. D005591 & D005297 amounts to £ 128 for a compact for a week but A432123 brings it down to £ 106.50. I have used this code in the past it is safe. I believe it is some FF code.
If any one has better code to lower the price at AGP please share it with us.

How timely! I'm also looking for a rental in AGP for the fall. A432123 gives a great rate. (Works out to US$197/wk for a compact!)
Thanks ^^

Just call or e-mail Customer Service. I find they are extremely helpful. I never "earn" free rentals because I typically rent cars overnight (24-48 hrs) and most promotions are for 3+ day rentals. However, whenever I am on personal travel, I just call them and ask them to comp me something for my loyalty. They either give me a free day or two, or discount coupons.

I am booking Brussels for this week and noticed that D087633 does not provide any meaningful discount anymore. Used to be 40%. The above code does (from EUR 120 base to EUR 76 for 2 day rental). But it gives me the "incompatible AWD code warning".

Looking for a two or three day rental of an intermediate vehicle, with pickup in downtown Paris and return to CDG, in late September. Here's what I found using the AWD's listed:
2-day rental --
D005297, D005150, D087633, & A674600: 198.06 EUR all in.
A432123: 157.40 EUR all in.
3-day rental --
D005297, D005150, D087633, & A674600: 204.19 USD all in.
A432123: 171.80 USD all in.
So, AWD432123 gives the better rate in both cases, and a three day rental is cheaper than a two day!

You will be held fully responsible and liable for any and all damage done to the rental car as well as other property you damage. If the owner of that AWD is sued or otherwise impacted by the accident, they will have recourse to recover any damages and costs from you.
These codes can provide steep discounts, but are not without risk - just be aware of this before using them.

Can't help you out with the code, but having just rented from Avis in Costa Rica, I would be shocked if they asked questions. They were efficient to the point of being pushy (not complaining) and the whole rental was totally painless. As always, YMMV, but I found the experience to be a breeze.

Can anyone definately confirm (or otherwise) that if you are using a code where you don't have the back-up ID then you are not covered on CDW, even if the booking is accepted?
I can't confirm anything, but logically I'd say that the issue is bigger than whether you have the correct back-up ID. If you are not part of the group that the AWD code contract covers (between Avis and an affinity group, say, or an employer) than the insurance coverage contracts may not cover you, even though they are included in the AWD rate for those who ARE legitimately covered and even though Avis has allowed you to get the benefit of the lower rate. The insurer (or Avis, or the employer, if it is a self-insure arrangement) probably has agreed only to cover renting employees/members of XXXX. You could try saying "Well, they gave me the rate, so I thought I got the insurance too," but I'd hate to be banking on winning that one.
Being risk-averse on this sort of thing, I do all my car rentals on a credit card that provides PRIMARY auto insurance coverage for rental cars (most that say they provide rental insurance are only secondary to your own insurance). That means I can't take advantage of AWD's requiring use of a different card, but at least I sleep a little better when renting a car! :p

Another option is www.insurance4carhire.com if you don't want to sign up for another card. This is a UK insurance policy but maybe non UK residents can apply also?
I had this policy for a year but now have the Amex Platinum Chargecard (note car insurance is NOT included with the credit card, just chargecard). If you have a small incident then the rental company charge the repair to your card and you claim it back from Amex. If it is a larger claim, such as a write off, theft etc then you submit a claim to Amex and they liase with the rental company and no charges will be applied to your card.
Does that mean that even if you haven't yet paid for the car, as you will be paying at the end of the rental, if you have an accident Natwest Black will cover you?

I just tried ALL of my AVIS AWD's (except the recently black-listed 'C031529' [Thanks Acrossenger for the Warning!] and the DO NOT USE ones) and the best rate for a mid-size 3-day rental in Seattle , WA was about $137 (incl. fees & taxes). So I gave Priceline a try and I was able to shave off almost 50% !!! :D

Some of the AWD's that I did not test may still work for international rentals (i.e., UK). But anyway, try U606753Thanks, yes that one works, but discount not great, maybe 10%.
I will stick to my PC AWD for now :)

If you give me the exact dates/times of travel, pick-up location, size of car, and best price you found, I'll see if I can find something better ;)

What the heck is "Delta PAL Program Employees". Does it relate to the airline, the dental insurance company, the Canadian hotel chain, etc. ?

I have yet to show an ID for any of the codes (unless it says "DO NOT USE ...") If someone would ask, simply mention that you have been a LOYAL customer of Citibank and that they send you this code by mail for leisure travel! I'm in the computer business, so I use mostly the IEEE code (no, I'm not even a member) but not once did I have to show an ID or membership card!
Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I picked up my car at RDU a few hours ago, and was not asked for ID and had no problem with the $37 rate!

Anyone found a code with a really good rate for Malaga, Spain lately? 2 months ago I tried D005927 (Assoc of Bankruptcy Trustees) and was getting some awesome rates. Not anymore. It's now giving $258 (before tax), for a 1 wk rental at the end of October. The best I've found is the Delta PAL code (A432123) which gives $215 before tax, and US$301 after tax.
Anyone have a code that isn't in the list?

That's as good as it gets. The good times are over. A432123 is the best around but you can still shave of a little by booking your car before 10 october as they are having a autumn sale. I booked a Seat Leon class car for £92.30 including tax ( Can $ 188!!! ) usually with A432123 £ 106.50. No need to fill in AWD box when you click on autumn sale. So go to avis.co.uk and you will see sale banner on right hand side.
I usually rent there a few times a year and a few weeks ago they gave me a much bigger car ( G class, Ford Mondeo type )
Good luck and have a nice stay

Have you tried the following AWD: J993686
Since I don't have the dates, you'll have to check for yourself.

Thanks for the tip hotlguy! I missed it the first time you posted. These are very good prices indeed. It looks like the big difference between small and medium is how many pieces of luggage you can put in. (They all seat 5.) There will be 4 of us, but no need for luggage, so I might go for the Seat Ibiza. I am not familiar with this vehicle. Is there any reason I should select a more expensive car?
I also hope to get a free upgrade based on my Preferred Status with Avis in North America. Anyone have any experience with that?

I recently came back from a 4-month trip from Brazil. For the entire time I rented from Localiza (http://www.localiza.com): They have one of the best rates and they have many offices so if you need help there is always a Localiza nearby. The "big" companies (such as Avis, etc.) are usually only found in bigger cities. With respect to codes, I don't know if Avis has them for Brazil and if it even pays. Good Luck
P.S.: Unless you are in one of the bigger cities/airports, you might have a hard time finding English-speaking agencies, so brush up on your portuguese!
