I am traveling between AUS and OAK on America West and I bought my ticket on Travelocity. My flight is at 10pm and I am wondering if I can try to catch an earlier flight by going stand-by. I'm at the airport right now and the AW rep told me I can't fly stand-by because I bought my ticket off travelocity. Is she correct or should I be able to go stand-by??
TIA

Unless the fare basis says no standbyyou should be able to - go the the gate and ask to be bput on the standby list

Thanks. I called AW and they told me that I can go stand-by. They even called the gate agent and told her to let me go stand-by. It appears that the gate agent just had a problem with me from the moment I walked up because she was rude and unhelpful with me but pleasant with other customers. I hate to pull out the race card but I have a strong feeling that was at play here, based on her interactions with me versus other passengers.
I'm PLAT on AA and I've always been treated well there. I rarely fly AW and have no status here.

Well,I have no comment in regards to that. However, I can say that 99% of the time, if you are a paid ticket (doesn't matter the source; airline, travelocity, orbitz, expedia, etc.), you can go standby for free assuming there is available space. Southwest is the only domestic airline that I know of that doesn't allow free standby unless on the highest paid fare.
