America West FlightFund (Discontinued Program) - Comped Gold Challenge?

I'm trying to see if anyone who has completed the gold challenge has had any success in having the status comped by any other airline?

What exactly do you mean?

1) Has anyone who has a non HP elite status successfully comped by America West?
or
2) Has anyone who has an HP elite status been successfully comped by any airline(s)?

If my wife earns her gold status through the gold challenge will she able to have her status comped by other airlines. Will other airlines state that since she did not earn her status throught the usual matter it does not count?

Do you mean the silver challenge?

And I wouldn't think it a problem would occur, you'd have the same status card no matter what.

What you are effectively trying to do is get a Comp with another Comp, which will generally not work. A challange is a Comp after all, in that you have not met the standard mileage requirement for status. Any other airline is going to want to see your travel history in order to grant a Comp and you will fall short.

I had a different experience. I did a Silver Challenge on HP, got comp'd silver by CO. They didn't check mileage, just wanted to see my silver designation.

Remember that comps are usually a one time deal - so dont go waste them just to have a bunch of pretty cards you never intend to use in your wallet

I am AA gold with BIS miles. I emailed HP yesterday and today I am silver. I did have 17,000 miles this year on HP so I was close ....Thanks HP...

Yes. It is possible. However, the airline you wish to receive a comp from will have to be very forgiving. If they request your travel history you'll probably be rejected if you didn't fly enough.

There is no indication of how you received your status(comped or earned).
