Is there only a 1 year window to return to Centurion, if I downgrade?
I think you really have two questions:
1. Do I have to requalify by spending $150,000.00 in the previous 12 months again?
2. Do I get my $1,000.00 annual fee grandfathered?
I will tell you what one rep told me many months ago but I would not trust the answer. You can reactivate the same account within a year without spending 150,000 but you no longer get the grand fathered annual fee

after downgrade form centurion you can everytime again upgarde to the cent card.
for example you explain them you are moving for one year to foreign country.
just force them to give you an fax that they will guarantee that you can upgradet again .
worked fine for me. ;)

The Centurion product is different for almost each country even though the name is the same.

amex should make one centurionproduct worldwide. i would love to have the us features.
as i have a german one, i can not tell about other countries. but after downgrade going back it normally possible everytime.
just need an confirmation .

As other Amex cards, the Centurion is not a standard product, but has benefits adapted to each market, mainly because of the different expectations of customers, and local marketing stategies.
The Centurion will be introduced in France as titanium card only, with EUR 2,000 annual fee and extended benefits compared to the german (EUR 1,000) and UK Centurion (GBP 650?). They should make it almost equivalent to the US Centurion.

amex should offer a world wide product, at least they should offer highest levels of membership for the car rentals and the airline programs.
i would pay more than the german 1000 euro if we get better
benefits in germany.
and it is a ripoff that euro based cards, earn less MR Points than dollar, and mostly they change 3:2 or 5:4 to airline programs or hilton. us cards exchange 1:1 , or 1:2 so , this is really bad.
