Starwood Preferred Guest - Points for Timeshare presentations
I have been looking at the option of buying a timeshare property at starwood. I have not been to anyone of the starwood's presentations yet. Just wondering if there is any starwood in Chicago that has timeshare presentations, and are offering points for attending the presentation.
I was in Waikiki this May, and starwood was offering $100 for attending one. I have westin in Maui is offering 7500 points for attending the presentation.

But you can also use Starwood Hotels in addition to the timeshares
I'm going to bump this; I'm interested in any recent timeshare offers for Maui or Kauai.

8,000 points for sitting thru 90-minute timeshare presentation at Westin Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs) California.
Pretty lame salespeople, but thankfully the most low-pressure pitch I have received.

Thats what I have been looking for. Any such presentation in the Chicago area.
May be, I should visit W Chicago, and see if there is SPG Vacation desk. There was one at Sheraton Waikiki, Hi, and they were offering $100 SPG dollars for the presentation, but 90 minutes of time in Hawaii was not worth $100 in a place like Hawaii.....

Anyone know of any point offerings for Westin Kierland? I know there is a deal for staying there for 4 nights, but I'm only going to be in town for a day, and will probably stay there - so wondered if I could attend a presentation (if it were worth my while).

For the offers at the http://www.westinpreviews.com/amexspg/index.jsp link, although I'm sure they are, why don't they make it clear that these are for timeshare presentations? (see text from website below) Or is it just me that thought it was unclear that they were.
Anyone know the length/details of these presentations? And when do you pay since they do not ask for payment at reservation, yet their FAQ states paid in advance but non-refundable. Starpoints?
Thanks!

Just checked out of the Kierland on Wednesday. They offered me 10K points to sit through the presentation, but then I couldn't go because my husband wasn't on the trip with me. Darn.

All the timeshare presentations I have been involved with required my wife to attend with me.

If you tell them beforehand that you're single, then they wouldn't require your wife to attend with you. ;)

Do you know if they offer it every day, and what time? Maybe it would be worth getting there early on Sunday to get 10,000 points.

Yes, they required him to attend. He was 2000 miles away though, so that wasn't an option. I guess they do it because they don't want you to blame the fact that your spouse isn't there to get out of buying something!
Instead, they offered me a return package to attend the presentation. 5 days, 4 nights for $299.
