I have a reservation for 20% off a weekend stay. Original cancellation policy 4pm 1 day prior.
Checked last week, it is now a 100% non-refundable stay. Luckily I have a hardcopy screen print of the original reservation with the original cancellation policy.
I'm not upset, as I have the screen print and the right people at Starwood are looking into it. And I'm 95% sure I'll keep the reservation. But until I get clear communication on what caused it, I would print off 100% of my reservations.
The wise ones out there probably already do this. I will from now on. I'll keep you posted on the resolution.
I have also had a problem with a reservation. Made via phone last November for this August at the Sheraton Bal Harbour. Date was for 18th August , I have e-mail confirmation and it has always shown on my SPG bookings page as that date.
About 10 days ago I received an e-mail offer from the Bal Harbour , thanking me for my recent stay and lising an offer that was for previous guests only. I thought nothing of it until I receive bvia e-mail a request for a survey in relation to my recent stay at the Bal Harbour.
I phoned Cork and the said your booking was for July ( 15th I think). Nor Aug 18th .I said no it was not etc etc, as I have confirmation and I am looking at my SPG account page and is still shows the booking for 18th Aug as it has for the last 8 months. I have made no changes to this booking.
The out come was that it appears that the Hotel itself had amended the booking. Why I know not , but was told that SPG in Cork would get back to me.
It was only by chance that I checked up with SPG that there was no problem with my booking and I would not have done so if I had not received the Survey.
To be honest this is a little worrying as the thought of Traveling all the way from the UK , with children on family vacation ,and arriving at a hotel only to be told ( Wrongly) that we are full , and that your booking was for last month, would be a nightmare.
I look forward to hearing from SPG Cork to find out what went wrong.

Keeping a copy of your confirmation e-mail will probably accomplish the same thing while, at the same time, saving a few trees. ;)

IT should, but I've had a few too many harddrive crashes to rely on it.

Then keep it on a reliable web-based e-mail server (okay, oxymoron :) ), but it always helps to have a electronic copy handy when all else fails.
