Star Alliance - Refund of excess tax upon reissuance?

I thought there was a thread about this but I couldn't find it.

My question is: do you get your paid taxes back if a reissued xRWSTARx itinerary has lower taxes? Do they issue a credit back to your credit card, or apply it against the reissuance fee?

I know. Its frustrating (to me at least) that you cant put in shortened versions of word as a catch all to find all spellings - no you have to spell out the full word. Eg here tax didnt work, but taxes did.
