Air New Zealand Air Points - Seeking answers to questions on new airbucks scheme

I know it is early days but already it seems us demanding FTers need to know a lot more detail than is being provided to date.

I wonder if we can get enough of us together to warrant getting someone who knows the details from Air NZ for a Q&A session? Would probably need to be web-based as we arent all lucky enough to be near head office in AKL. Although I am sure no one would say no to a sponsored trip from NZ I doubt we'd be so lucky!

An alternative may be to submit a list of questions, but personally I'd prefer something more interactive if we can get it.

What do you reckon?

Good idea!

Although I haven't flown NZ for a long time, I'm thinking of switching to the * Empire.

NZ can fly me up if they want... :D (As long as the flights earn Airpoints/bucks...)

I already have my Airbucks account (*G, nonetheless) with 0 points in it... So if I can understand the scheme better, it can help me over this side of the fence.

Great idea! How do you reckon we go about doing that. I'd be happy to try and ring someone although we might have more luck if we get a Gold Elite to do that and suggest the idea and request someone to be available at the AKL domestic Koru Club for Q&A. I think face-to-face is much better. We could bring a laptop and take questions from people who cannot be there.

Or we could all demand Members Guides early ?

Good point.

I think it may be useful to get some answers soonish (am assuming it will be months before member guides are printed). At the very least gives an opportunity to maybe get things tweaked (in our favour - I mean where we point out it doesnt make sense), but once the guides/new t&c's are published then there is almost no chance of changes.

Could also present it to NZ as a (further) opportunity for feedback from some pretty regular flyers who are quite savvy, which may mean more likely to take the time to explain and listen.

Was anyone here involved in market testing for NZ?

I am thinking we are more likely to get an audience (so to speak) if we can say there are 10 of us (or more!!) who between us fly 1,000,000 miles a year ... whatever the numbers are.

well I'm up for it. Shall we just ring airpoints and ask to speak to a manager? I'd be happy to give this a try but perhaps we should get a few more people to register their interest here first.

I am fairly sure that an email to Brent McConchie (if he is still the AP manager) will be fine for getting an audience. He has always been extremely positive in receiving feedback and discussing issues with high ranking NZ AP members.

Otherwise the sales manager for the north or south islands have been often able to facilitate things once it is shown that you are high yielding (easy enough for the people here ;).

If Brent is still the manager I do not mind emailing him - as have done many times in the past, otherwise I can pass his address onto someone else as obviously I will not be in attendance and as I am basically not acruing APs anymore I am not the best person.

I noticed that the blurb I received in the mail regarding the changes was signed by John Whittaker, Manager Loyalty. I think Dougal Swift took over from Brent McConchie and I assume Mr Whittaker has taken over from him.

Hello to all,

Its been a while since I was on here, shocked to hear of the dramatic changes to airpoints, I also wish to express interest to hear from someone at Air New Zealand. They tell us the changes are to make the scheme less complicated?????? I hardly think so!

Regards

Marc

Just got a letter about my status credits (get 10 free if I book and fly between now and October to make it easier to get to 180 - which I won't this year anyway). It was signed by Brent McConchie.

I'll throw my hat into the ring as well. It'll be nice to get an official word from the airline.
