Air New Zealand Air Points - AKL International Lounge

On my LAX-AKL-SYD, I have a 2:30 layover in AKL. I'm in F, so I assume I can use the lounge, but do I have to pass through customs? Map on NZ site seems to indicate I do. Are there showers there? Is there a transit lounge with showers to avoid customs? Thanks!

No need to pass through customs in transit, unless you wanted to leave airside (if you decide to go landside then be sure to pick up a departure fee exemption sticker so you dont need to pay the NZD$25).
Are you in F AKL-SYD (on TG)? or just LAX-AKL? If F AKL-SYD then you will be arriving around the time F lounge opens and will have access to it, but if flying AKL-SYD in C (or econ and *G) on NZ or TG then only access to the business lounge.
Both lounges are very good and include showers as well as good snacks & drinks, usual computers newspapers magazines etc. The seats "around the corner" have a good view across the pier :)
PS lounge entry coming from the pier - head towards the main part of the terminal but dont turn left to go to immigration, go up the slight slope and there is a corridor on the left, NZ (and QF) lounge is at the top of the escalator.

We're on NZ103 AKL-SYD, so only C on that flight but as of now we're all in Y. I'm *G so we'll at least get into business lounge. But if only C on the flight, does that rule out F lounge even though we're theoretically on F awards? Thanks.

The F and C lounge are similar, you are not missing anything.

Thanks. It's really the showers we're interested in, so either will do fine.
How long of a wait for showers early AM? We arrive 6:30, depart 9:00.

I think there are 4 or 5 showers (the NZ website will tell you). I have never had to wait for a shower at all.

Sorry to pop in with a similar question: I will be shortly arriving in AKL from PER, very early in the morning arount 6 oīclock and - as I have to continue to travel by car - it would be just GREAT to have a shower...
My questions therfore:
(1) Would I have access as an arriving A* Gold travelling in C?
(2) What would happen to my baggage still circulating on the belt while I am having that shower?! ....
Any help?! Thankīs!

No - its not an arrivals lounge and not allowed to admit arriving pax unless they have an onward (international) flight.
There are pay showers in the Air NZ domestic terminal which you could use after collecting your bags.
You could also try to get in to Koru Club (Air NZ domestic lounge) which has showers, but may not be able to get in without an onward ticket - particularly at that time of day when it is busy.

If you fail to gain entry to the NZ lounge, there are inexpensive pay showers available both airside and landside in the international terminal. They aren't anywhere as nice as the showers in the NZ lounge, but they are fine in a pinch. Since you are continuing on by car, there's no need to bother with the domestic terminal.
If you take the time to shower, shop, look at planes or whatever airside before immigration, baggage claim and customs, your bags will eventually just be taken off the belt and placed to the side along with a bunch of other bags. Since the immigration officers pre-baggage claim look to see where you arrived from and they seem to know the flight schedule by heart, occasionally they might be curious and ask why it took you so long to reach them. If you tell them the reason was a shower or shopping, they're fine with that. Once you get to baggage claim your bags should be sitting off to the side.
I see you listed your location as Ukraine/Germany, which is an interesting coincidence since I am head to Kiev again by way of Germany in a few weeks ...

Hey Quokka, thankīs for your information - very useful. You will definitively enjoy your stay in Kiev. Itīs worth to take some time off as itīs a great city (- OK, the hotels arenīt that great -) , and especially foreigners on business are even more excited as they didnīt expect very much of their trip to Kiev ...
