Recently, we visited the Chukchansi Gold Casino on Route 41, about halfway between Fresno and the southern entrance to Yosemite just south of a town called Coursegold. They have four restaurants, which we have tested on several occasions - a buffet, an informal coffee shop, a 50's-like diner, and a more formal restaurant.
All were quite good for what they offered. The coffee shop had very good meals 24 hours/day at very reasonable prices. But the real discovery is their "fine dining" restaurant called Vintage, an outstanding establishment with a range of unusual appetizers, good salads, and some outstanding meat and fish dishes in a very comfortable setting. While the prices are more than the coffee shop, they are considerably lower than what you might expect to find at a similar restaurant in a big city. Furthermore, if you do gamble, you can often get some or all of the meal comped.
There is a very well-known restaurant in the same area in a town just north of the casino - Oakhurst. The restaurant is Erna's Elderberry. Although they do have excellent food, it is nearly twice the cost of Vintage and a lot more snooty. I'd take the Vintage anytime.
