MilesBuzz! - x.com to discontinue credit card deposits 8/21

Better hurry if you were planning to add any money to your x.com account with a credit card. BTW, they did NOT reset the limits, so apparently the $1000/6 months limit is still in effect.

Thankfully got in on two $1000 credit card deposits but now it's bye bye.

The flip side is that it frees up the grand I was leaving there to increase the yield.

Thanks for the "heads up" Mark. I had made a mental note last February to make another $1000 deposit in August. But of course, I forgot all about it. Too bad they're doing away with the credit card deposits. By the way, you can open an account at Compubank with a credit card. It's a great online bank with excellent customer service too.

just want to clarify - i'll still be able to make paypal payments with a credit card (ie from me, to someone else), i just won't be able to charge money to my credit card and dump that money into my paypal.com account, right?

or is x.com different from paypal, even though paypal is owned by x.com?

had been wondering whether they would catch on to the all the mile-laudnering possibilities built in to the paypal system - is the game up?

X.com is now closing down the finance side of the business (checking accounts and mutual funds) on Dec. 1. Guess all those high flying corporate types they hired to run the company couldn't really cut it in the ".com" world after all. How much longer can the PayPal "thing" last???

Paypal sucks compared to some of the other payment systems that have come out lately. I mean, from a pure mileage earning point of view, there are at least 4 others (listed below) that will do the job a lot better than Paypal. I use all 4 of them on a rotating basis every week, and have earned thousands of miles in the last 2 months even though my credit limit isn't much (im still in school). Check these out:

Notice that citibank just introduced its own payment system. I swear it wasn't there last week when I checked my statement. If bankone and citibank are doing it, I can betcha some other banks are going to do the same. rock on!

Yeah, but nothing beats PayPal for auctions. The others just don't have the tools or the popularity.
