Will be flying in to Las Vegas from Pittsburgh and would like to get nice view of Vegas and the strip on approach. Is it better to select seat A or seat F (which side of plane has best view). Thanks in advance for your help

This really isn't a MilesBuzz question; I think it should have been asked in the Las Vegas (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=463) forum.

If they land on the normal approach pattern, the "F" seat should be the best - the Strip is north of LAS and will be on the starboard side of the plane.

I always sit in an ailse seat, but I seem to recall the best views coming from the left side of the plane. Maybe it depends on the particular approach in place when you arrive.

Don't forget you'll also want to be in position for the best views of the Grand Canyon.

I suggest doing what many people on my flights have done, which is to crawl all over other passengers like me to get a view from both sides of the plane like we're not even there.

My experience has been that my flights coming from the east tend to approach south of the strip and then land to the north. Hence your best bet for long viewing is a window seat on the right hand side of the airplane (usually an F seat in the 3 by 3 arrangement). The caveat is that the viewing of the Grand Canyon is often on the opposite side. As always, ymmv.

No doubt it's the F seat. Most likely you will land on 25 L .There is a small chance you could land on 19 ( I forgot if they use L or R) and you will land alongside the strip. There is a very slight chance you would land on 1 ( again, I don't remember if they use L or R ) in which case you would be out of luck with an F seat. Take the F seat.

A window seat :p

And if you miss it, go to the Stratosphere Tower and catch it from there ;)

Forget view from the plane - go to the top of the Rio (voodoo lounge) go and sit outside approx 6-7 p.m. watch sun go down and lights go on - with a Witch Doctor in your hand - view gets better as you approach the bottom of the glass!! Tip : dont go gambling afterwards!!

Since the airport is southeast of the city and most of the arrivals land on 25L heading west, you will not see much of the strip upon arrival. However, what you might be able to see would be from the right side of the aircraft.

If you land to the south, which happens about 5-10% of the time, on runway 19R, you would also want to be on the right side. Then you will see a lot of the strip.

The only other possibility is landing to the north on runway 1L, in which case you won't see much from either side.

Agree. It is quite a mind-blower to look out of the window (on the right) and see, from the runway, a profile of NYC and the Eiffel Tower. Rather surreal, particularly if you have not been to Las Vegas for awhile( or ever)

Best view is from the pilots' seats! :D

I just flew out of LAS on Sunday and the window seat on the right had a postcard-perfect view of The Strip (from Mandalay Bay all the way up to the Stratosphere) during the first minute or two of takeoff. If you don't get the view you want on landing, you can always shoot for the departure :)

most flights from the east coast will not hhave a view coming in as opposed to a flight frol SLC or SEA which land on the runway that runs paraell to the strip but the west fence of the airport runs along the strip and behind some hotels so LAS is very close when you take off you have a better chance of views but starboard is best if you land on the runway if you dont get a view look out the windows in the terminal Delta is at the end of the NorthEast wing of the D gate area and has the best view. if your on U.S. Airways, american, midwest, frontier or northwest no hope.

If you happen to come in from the South you will probably get a really good view of Hoover Dam, but it could be on either side of the plane.
All in all I'd take the F seat.
