Trip Reports - My Hong Kong Turbulence Horror story

Hi everyone! first post, thought I'd share one of my travel stories.

I was going to Hong kong for about the 11th time, and about half way between San Fransisco and HK, they notified all the passengers about a typhoon was going down in HK. Well by the time we got there it was an extreme storm and we couldn't land because of wind speeds and stuff all over the runway. We circuled above HK for 3-4 hours going up and down lightning flashing very close to us luggage flying out of the top, ugh. it was bad. Eventually they took us to Macow and it was going on there too, but we managed to land. Once we got on the runway they realized the wind was too bad for us to get out of the plane so we sat on the runway for 6 HOURS. But it was actually alright, all the pilots and crew came out and kinda hanged out with everyone. When they let us out we can barely stand up, and get into small buses that take us to the airport. Then we get pushed into 3 small lines as they examine us. After we get through all the "examination" they announce all first class and business class pasengers get to go to their hotel right away. Wonderful! only if I was in first or business class ;) so we sit around for another 3 hours and we finally get to our hotel (which is pretty darn nice, 4 star :D ) And since I got some sleap in the airport I sit and watch Tiger woods in my fresh bathrobe all night hehe. So in the morning I go and eat break-fast with a couple buddies I made on the plane and we sit around talking about movies over our great grub. I begain to see that we were the only ones sitting in the food area. I take a peak at my watch and see that we are a half hour late for catching the bus back to the airport we jult out there and catch the VERY last bus by less then a minute.

The plane ride was horrible, but I made a couple good friends had a good expirience and got to the destination only a day late.

I was in HKG last Friday when the Typhoon arrived as well but by the time my flight to SFO left it had moved on so we fortunately missed it.

It was rather a memorable experience being in HKG in daylight and seeing deserted streets and that huge port with no ships alongside

Perhaps he (Mr Leung21) was watching tiger woods play golf in the US on television in his 4-star hotel room while in Macau with his robe on

OK! It was Macau! I was wondering why in the world would an airlines divert a Hong Kong bound flight to Mascow? :p :D :p :D

Yes Macau not Mascow, I don't think I was all the way there when I wrote that. And yes, I was wearing the robe, not tiger woods :D I was on United.. I would have to dig up the excact flight #.

Macow <-- see, I did have the right city, just spelled it wrong hehe..
