Jetsgo to launch Edmonton-Vancouver, Toronto-LaGuardia
Wednesday July 14, 10:07 am ET
Edmonton-Vancouver to be 3 times daily Twice daily Toronto-LaGuardia in prime time Adds additional Sunday flights to Newark and L.A.
MONTREAL, July 14 /CNW/ - Jetsgo's promise to provide competitive discount air travel takes another step forward with the announcement today of exciting new routes and service improvements. Vancouver-Edmonton, one of western Canada's most important routes, will be getting three times per day service, effective Sept. 7.
"Our analysis shows that this is an overpriced market currently split between Air Canada and WestJet," said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of Jetsgo. "A comparison of routes of similar distance shows that passengers are paying too much between these two cities and Jetsgo's 34 flights a week are about to change that. The route will quickly become another example of how competition benefits the consumer. Our opening one-way fares will start at $59.
"We're also very pleased to announce that, effective Sept. 20, we will begin serving New York's LaGuardia Airport twice per day from Toronto at peak times, including a flight arriving at 8:00 a.m.," said Leblanc. "In addition, we will be adding a second Newark Sunday flight to our existing schedule."
Jetsgo's New York service will now be comprised of three daily Toronto-Newark flights with one Saturday and two Sunday flights. Toronto-LaGuardia will be two daily flights with one Saturday and one Sunday flight.
"It's all about choice for the consumer and serving New York through two local airports provides both discount fares and convenience," said Leblanc.
Other schedule improvements include:
- Toronto-Vancouver will be increased to five flights per day, including
two via Edmonton, effective Sept. 7.
- Toronto-Los Angeles, which launches July 30 as a three times per week
service will have a Sunday flight added effective Sept. 12.
Headquartered in Montreal with 1100 employees, Jetsgo offers scheduled discount air service to 18 Canadian and seven U.S. destinations, including Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John, N.B., Charlottetown, Halifax, Sydney, Stephenville, St. John's, Nfld., Los Angeles, New York (Newark), Las Vegas, and St. Petersburg, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Fort Myers in Florida.
