This past weekend (9th-12th), I stayed in two Hilton properties and thought I'd offer a brief review. Hilton has done a fabulous job once again. First up was Fri and Sat night at Doubletree Atlanta Perimeter. Very nice. Almost as nice as their Disney World property.
Check-in in the HHonors line was a breeze as always. Friendly staff, ready to drop everything to make me happy. Parking was a little far from the door for me, and the side doors never seemed to work, no matter the time of day(which I found odd and wondered if it was just me  )
There were nice french doors that opened into the bedroom. The bathroom was very spacious with a separate tub and shower. The closet was a little small compared to other Doubletree's, but obviously this is not a major sticking point. Complimentary high-speed wireless worked perfectly. Comfortable king bed.
This hotel is in a good location. There is a plaza with a chinese restaurant, a Publix grocery store, and several other restaurants and shops within easy walking distance (5 mins or less). Maybe 1/4 mile or so away (I'm not sure what the website says) is a MARTA station, from which you can go downtown and many other locales in the Atlanta area. Also, just 1 mile to the west is Roswell Road, where you can find just about any restaurant or store.
I would definately recommend this property, especially if you plan to work/shop in the northern suburbs of Atlanta.
Sunday night I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Uptown Charlotte. It is adjacent to a Hampton Inn and they share a parking garage. If you park on levels 4 or 5, you have direct access to the hallway and thus the elevators, if you swipe your room key.
The room was bigger than I had expected for 'uptown' Charlotte. Average size bathroom. There was roomy work area on and near the desk, and free wireless that worked great.
The surroundings left a little bit to be desired. It sits on 2nd street, away from the central 'downtown' area. It would be a walk of several blocks to find restaurants/theaters/other hotels (except for the Hampton).
There is a restaurant at the hotel, though I didn't eat there. It looked and smelled good.
All in all, very good hotel as well. The price more than made up for the location. Thank you Hilton for great hotels as always!
