Starwood Preferred Guest - Westin Century Plaza, 1 bedroom suites

I am looking to book a room for two nights in November at the Westin, for about $60 more a night I can get a one bedroom suite with a SPG50 certificate, I am currently a SPG platinum member but have had some problems at Westin upgrading, a few properties Las Vegas, St. John, so I want to make sure I get the upgrade, Has anyone stayed in these suites are they nice, is it worth it for $275.00 a night, or should I give the St. Regis a try: It is a special ocassion and want to make sure I get a good room.

I have stayed in one of these suites before (4 years ago). It was quite nice but I always found that the suite upgrades that I received at the St. Regis (as a Plat) were nicer.
