Starwood Lurker:

There are some low cost airlines that starwood does not offer the ability to transfer points to, such as JetBlue and Airtran. These airlines offer excellent service, so much so that I prefer to fly them than the major airlines. I was wondering if starwood has looked into offering them as transfer partners, especially considering that they would probably sell their points for cheaper than other airlines.

We have no plans to add JetBlue or Airtran as airline marketing partners.

I really wish Starwood would strongly consider AirTran as a partner, for it is an incredible airline!

We have no plans to add JetBlue or Airtran as airline marketing partners.

Has there been talk about adding Southwest as a partner? As big as they are, I thought they'd be included by now.

Not that I know. Besides, I didn't know you could accumulate miles on Southwest. Is that new?

They call them "segments" (different currency). Hilton and Mariott participate right now. I'm certain some type of conversion would have to be established. Maybe some day!

If this is kind of a 'wishlist' ;) I would like to add bmi British Midlands to that list...!

They have a strong program that is not linked to many hotel programs, so bmi flyers would probably choose starwood...

And I would like to add SAS, who don't seem to participate any any of the programs offering point transfers.

We are very proud to announce that from 16 August 2004, Starwood will welcome its newest airline partner, Air China, a leading airline from the People's Republic of China.

As China's largest commercial airline, Air China continues to attract increasing international renown and a growing reputation for high levels of service combined with a traditional Chinese welcome. Air China's network spans 132 cities domestically and 39 cities internationally. When you fly with Air China in Economy, Business or First Class, you will be earning kilometers for free flights to popular destinations. The kilometers you earn can be redeemed for free flights, free stays and other benefits with Air China's partners.

Air China started its Companion frequent flyer program in 1994. Today there are 1.6 million members in the Air China Companion program, the fastest growing frequent flyer program in China.

With this partnership, Air China Companion members can earn kilometers on qualifying stays at over 740 Starwood hotels and resorts around the world.

We will announce this partnership at a Signing Ceremony and Press Conference in Beijing on Thursday, 29 July 2004. To kick off this partnership, we are offering DOUBLE kilometers to Air China Companion members on all qualifying stays from 16 Aug to 31 Oct 2004.

Maybe it's in the note above and I missed it: will they be a transfer partner?

SPG members who are also Air China Companion members will be able to convert Starpoints to Air China Companion kilometers at the ratio of 1:1.

And what's the deal with the T/A premiums like EOS? I know they offer some sort of partnership with the Leading Hotels of the World - any talks with Starwood from either side?
