I took a downgrade from a business class seat to a coach class on a flight from Frankfurt to Kiev. Lufthansa offered me a 300 Euro voucher of 150 euro check. I took the voucher.

My question is can I use this voucher in US to buy a Lufthansa ticket? If not what can I do with it?

Thanks

You could use it to buy a Lufthansa ticket, but you will have to hop over to Dulles airport to redeem it.

I had the experience that you can book on the phone giving them the number of the voucher. You can then either mail it in, or alternatively you can present it when checking in.

However, the biggest problem of these vouchers is that every segment of the ticket needs to be on LH metal.

I used them successfully and a SQ/LH fligtht.

My guess is yes and they would use the official IATA exchage rate.
