Which is the best hotel program for easily transferring hotel rewards as gifts?

I know that this can be done with Hilton for some awards ("Aloha", "Going Global", etc), but not with one night hotel stays, etc?

I am not aware that hotel awards can be issued in anyone else's name other than the account holder for Starwood or Marriott. Am I wrong?

Why can't the frequent flier programs make it easier to gift away points/miles?

Is it all a conspiracy by companies hoping that frequent fliers will forget about the points/miles, and not use them? (yes, these people do exist, I live with one of them)

Are you asking if you can get a room for someone else at Starwood's ?

Yes you can, I have done it.

With Hilton Honors you can give anyone a certificate for any number of nights. Just put their name on the certificate. You don't even have to make the reservation at that time, just print a certificate with their name on it and let them handle the reservation.

I've never had a problem getting an award in another person's name for Hilton or Starwood. I think it is generally easier to do it with Starwood in my experience.
