Taiwan's UDN News (http://udn.com) on Saturday (03JUL) reported about the dispute between CX's Taiwan union and company's management.

CX's Taiwan union accused the company's management level decided to change their working hours significantly without their approval. And since the working hours change, the airline failed to pay the "correct wage" under Taiwan's labour and union law. The union also believes the airline should compensate staff's financial loss during SARS. Cathay Pacific recorded HKD1.3billion of profit in 2003 despite massive loss during SARS crisis.

The talk between the management team and union broke off on Friday in Taipei. The union says it does not rule out any job actions, including massive protest and strike.

Cathay Pacific has admitted that if its union in Taiwan goes on strike, the airline may have trouble to reschedule its flight.

But the general strike started by the taiwanese union will not have major impact on Taiwan-Hong Kong flight.
