Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Is there a way to leverage my AA Platinum exec. status on my future CX flight?

I've been an AA platinum executive member for the past three years and I will be flying to JFK-HKG in the near future.
Is there a way I can leverage my status with AA onto my CX flight? I have a bunch of AA miles and upgrades and I would love to use those upgrades on the HKG flight. Is that possible?
Currently, my ticket has been booked without my AA number.. is it to my advantage to put my AA number onto the ticket before I check in?
Thanks

You can't use your AA miles or upgrades to upgrade on CX. Definitely enter your AAdv number into booking - CX is probably the best in recognizing OW Emerald status - you never know you may score an op-up - you didn't mention which class you were booked into.
And ofcourse one of the biggest perks will be the ability to use the F Wing/Pier lounges in HKG.

Unfortunately, I just found out that my ticket was purchased as a K fare... so they cant even enter in my AA number..
Is this flight a lost cause?

A belated Wecome to FlyerTalk, doctorbonez!
No, all is not lost... but you can always pay the difference and get your ticket reissued in H class. That way, you'd get at least miles for your ticket on AAdvantage. It won't be too much but talk to the agency that you purchased your ticket from.
See: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=333705
You might as well get the miles. Unless the flight is full and economy is oversold, your chances of an op-up is not good. CX will op-up their own MPC members first (almost all tiers) and then other oneWorld elite members.

I used to be AA Gold and each and everytime I did the YVR-HKG route I was upgraded, bought the cheapest fares on CX. OP UG's were given at the gate only. You have to give them your card at check in and it helps if you call ahead and let them know of your status.

Based on what everyone said, it looks like I will not be able to accrue AA miles on my upcoming CX flight, since the tickets were already purchased as K fares. (I'm not sure how much the cost is to upgrade from K to H, but if it is over 200, its probably not worth it for the miles to accrue in my AA account, I might as well just get it in asia miles and then redeem those for some merchandise)
thus I opened an asiamiles account. I will give them this number when I check in, but is there a way to tell them that I have status via oneworld? or do I give them my asiamiles account # and also show them my AA card with the emerald one world insignia on it?
thanks

btw.. the physical AA card I have in my possession expired a couple of months ago (2/2004), but I still have status with them (I think I may have inadvertantly thrown out the new one).. would it be pointless to give/show them my old one?
You mentioned call ahead to let them know of my status.. who/where should I call?
thanks
I'm not understanding fully. Does your ticket have to be booked into the eligible sub-class (H) in order to simply input your AA# into your PNR? I don't have experience on this, but at least with Qantas, I give them my CX number just to have my seat preferences entertained. It works perfectly fine, albeit no miles on Qantas.
I dare not say further, but you should really ask if you can simply input your AA# into your CX PNR. If they refuse, you can acknolwedge that you know it's not miles-accural, but you simply want to enjoy the Emerald perks like First-class checkin, lounge invitation, etc... If you are after op-ups, it's done prior to check-in, so having your AA status "leveraged" to CX's PNR is a definite advantage.
With the outdated card, if your files shows your current status, I guess it's not a problem. But if you input Asiamiles, and show your expired AA card at check-in, they might refuse you the Emerald Perks  So insist to have your AA# in the file, unless there's some sort of authomatic rejection system unless your subclass is H or higher.

Understanding that there is a fare difference between K and H.... but as Exec Platinum, you get 100% flight bonus, so at one point, upgrading to H might still be worth it, because we are talking about over 30K miles here.

I just checked with my agent. They said they can put me on the waitlist for H fare.. but if it goes through, itll be about $350 (penalty for reissuing ticket + fare difference).
Worth it?

Up to you but it would cost you $400 to buy 16,000 miles on aa.com, whereas here you get double that for $350, which works out at a smidgin over 1c/mile. And you don't have 16,000 miles marooned in the Asia Miles program (marooned, that it, assuming you are not planning on doing a lot of CX flying). Most folks reckon miles can be redeemed at a rate around 2c/mile so I would say you're in front.

Hmm. Your agent doesn't seem to be doing enough. The H class should clear almost immediately as you're giving a seat in a lower revenue class and taking a higher class. Your agent should call CX and request a 'switch' in class but maintaining your confirmed status.

For future reference, there does seem to be some kind of automatic rejection system b/c I called up Cathay and they said they cannot enter an AA# number if it wasn't purchased on an eligible fare. The rep said that if I wanted to complain, I can do so at AA b/c it is their rule. :td:
Thankfully, I tracked down my lost card.. so all is not lost. Just no miles :(

Again why are you calling CX and not letting your agent do what he/she is supposed to do? The agent should have put your FF number on your PNR irrespective of your booking class. By all accounts, it appears as though your PNR does not have your AA number .. as you're supposed to be on a waitlist for H class which gets you miles. Your AA Exec Plat number gives you priority waitlist status. So don't you think your agent should put this in order to get your flight booked in H class confirmed or expedited?

I'd even buy the fare up to a B to get the extra EQP..... you get 50% more for about $100 more each way. This will be about 8000+ more EQP!

I don't understand not being able to enter the AA#. I've entered my BA number on award tickets. The CX agent on the phone just reminds me that it is an award ticket and I cannot get miles and I say no problem and they enter it.
